Yes, it's long. Would you expect anything less than a novella? :D Rachel and Chris met twice before in passing; once in 2012 at a house in the suburban woods of Sherman Oaks when she was coming in for play rehearsal and he, visiting for work from Dallas, was walking out the door; then again during a brief tour at Funimation in early 2013 after an odd convention in Stephenville, TX. (A story for another round of drinks.) The 3rd time, when they were both guests at Anime Boston over Memorial Day weekend that same year, they got to talking. And talking. And flirting. And both wondering if the other was interested. They didn't figure out that they'd both gotten the green light until the end of the weekend, when they were up on deck on the harbor tour the staff takes the guests on Sunday evening. Something about the water, the sunset, the chilly spring air, the sudden lurch that almost knocked them both over... Later, they checked out a fancy cocktail bar called Eastern Standard, he bought her a drink called the Metamorphosis, they kissed, and the smitten-ness was official. They talked all summer, reconvened in September, made it official in November, did long distance for a year, Rachel moved to Texas for a bit to cohabitate and then bring him back to California, and they finally made it back here to stay Sept. 2017. In late March 2018 they went back to Anime Boston, psyched because It was five years later and they'd both wanted to go back ever since 2013. Sunday of that weekend they did the usual tour 'round the harbor, and Chris suggested we go up on the deck to watch the sunset, as they'd done 5 years earlier. They got up to go, and she thought nothing of it when about 20 people followed them. (It seems so obvious now.) After a bit of ruse-ing with help from a few friends, on April Fool's Day, he proposed to her in the same spot where they fell for each other. Now, here we are! The soon-to-be 'Bevinsons' are thrilled you can all join us on our happy day.
