This love story began as a friendship waaay back in 2020. During that time, Sophie was working as a nurse in Grand Junction while Sean was finishing his degrees in construction electrical and mechatronics. They met through their church, and Sophie’s first impression of Sean that he was just so nice and kind, and Sean’s first impression of Sophie was that she was very pretty but perhaps a bit too much older than he was (just kidding!!)! They were friends for the first few years of knowing one another, never really considering that there could be a potential future together as they ran in different circles. But, after some big life transitions, a few friends playing matchmaker to help them along the way, and just about everyone in their church randomly telling them they should start dating, there began to be a little spark of interest on both sides. They were both cautious, however, and a little uncertain if this was a step that would both be best for them and honor God. But, after a few months of confusing interactions, shy conversations, and double-dates, this little spark grew a bit stronger. It was becoming more and more clear that God was bringing them together through some very unlikely circumstances, and had a plan for this budding relationship. Eventually, Sophie finally decided that she was, indeed, interested in Sean, and he decided that he was, indeed, interested in Sophie. And the rest is history. Soon after a hike on which Sophie chickened out on climbing a rock wall, Sean asked Sophie out on the most lovely dinner date in July of 2024. After some important questions before eating dinner, they decided to make it official! From then on, life has been so very sweet. God has shaped both of them during this time, challenging them to grow in so many ways, while mutually deepening their love for one another. The last year-and-a-half has been filled with laughter, adventures, deep and silly conversations (sometimes both as the same time…), challenges, and a deeper trust in each other, as well as the Lord. In September of 2025, Sean took Sophie to her favorite place in Grand Junction atop the Grand Mesa overlooking the valley, and asked for her hand. As you have probably concluded, she said yes! They are so very excited to be married and begin this next chapter in the story God has already written for them. They cannot wait to celebrate with you in February!
