Nick & I met at work in Middletown, RI. My dad had been wanting me to get my first real job after graduating from college so I applied to a Mortgage company on the Island. I remember him saying maybe I'll meet my future husband, who knows! Who knows is right... 2 months in I spotted my soon to be husband at the monthly company Awards Ceremony. Immediately, I had butterflies and I knew in that moment this tall, handsome, plaid loving man was going to become a part of my life one way or another. Fast forward 6 years later, here we are. I'm writing our description on our Wedding Website, preparing for the day that those doors open at St. Mary's church and Nick sees me for the first time walking towards him to become Mr. & Mrs. Brownell. My heart flutters just typing those words.
Nicks sister, Marielle, had asked if we wanted to do a photo shoot as a Christmas Card for their Gigi & Pops. We each had our own designated times to meet at my favorite road in Newport on a cold, snowy morning in December. As it was our time to shine, Nixon, Nick, Major, Minnie and I were walking towards the photographer as she was snapping away (the wonderful Catherine Druken, who mind you, had no idea Nick was going to pop the question). All of a sudden Nick handed Major off to Nixon, got down on one knee and left me completely shocked, surprised and thrilled as he asked if I would marry him. At first I thought he was joking and soon realized he was serious! I said yes and cried tears of joy for the rest of the day as we celebrated with family & friends. It was truly one of the best days of both our lives, a feeling that we'll never forget.
