FAQs

Question

What is the dress code for this event?

Answer

The dress code for this event will be formal. Wedding dress codes can be confusing, so what this means is: women are welcome to wear floor length gowns should they choose, but cocktail-length dresses and pant suits are also appropriate. For the men, suits and ties are most appropriate, with tuxedos not necessary. For nonbinary/gender non-conforming folks, all of the above applies! Given that our venue is fully outdoors and wedding is in October, any and all outerwear is welcome should guests be concerned about being cold. Campfires and propane heaters will be available at the reception pavilion to warm up at, though our fabulous 9-piece band should make that unnecessary! But feel free to use our wedding as a chance to wear your most fabulous coat and gloves you have nowhere else to wear. Block or wedge heels, boots, or dress shoes are recommended footwear as there is a variety of ground throughout the venue from the ceremony to reception spaces and bathroom/parking facilities (e.g. grass, gravel, dirt, concrete).

Question

What colors are the bridal party wearing?

Answer

Our bridal party will be wearing a variety of contrasting and complementary fall colors, which are not limited to the bridal party alone. Should you wish to not "match the bridal party," you are welcome to avoid these colors/fabrics. However, the bride and groom have no issue with anyone wearing these colors, as they will look beautiful with the surrounding nature and (hopefully) full fall foliage. So long story short, any color (besides white/cream/ivory) are on the table! Bridesmaids/men will be wearing velvet in shades of rust/burnt orange and mahogany brown. Groomsmen will be wearing navy blue with warm toned accents (e.g. warm tone brown shoes, rust/brown ties). Have a tweed suit you never know where to wear? This is the event for it! Have a fabulous fur coat that sits in your closet? Now's the time to break it out! Any and all patterns and fabrics are welcome.

Question

What accommodations are provided for guests with mobility constraints?

Answer

Brookledge is a fully ADA-compliant venue with both the ceremony and reception spaces accessible by ramps. If the gravel grounds at the ceremony space and leading to the cocktail hour/reception space are an issue for a mobility device (e.g. manual wheelchair, walker), large, comfortable golf carts are available on site, driven by designated venue staff, to transport guests to/from any location on site, including to the restrooms and parking lot if needed. For more information on specific ADA compliance, please reach out to the bride, Jessica, who can connect anyone to Brookledge's owner directly.

Question

Will there be transportation provided?

Answer

Yup! See our "Travel" tab for more information. Shuttles will be provided to/from all three hotel blocks and the venue, with varying shuttle times in the evening for folks who wish to head out early vs. those who want to stay until the very end of the after party.

Question

Will there be an after party?

Answer

Yes! Of sorts. Music will switch from our fabulous band, Soul Session, to our leading man DJ, Garland Nelson, from 10:00-11:00PM on site at the Brookledge Reception Pavilion. While there is a fabulous night life scene in nearby Saratoga Springs, NY, no off-site after party/bar hopping will be formally taking place. Any guests are welcome to get themselves a rideshare from the venue to downtown, but the bride and groom will be staying on site at Brookledge.

Question

What if I have a dietary restriction/food allergy?

Answer

Our wonderful caterers, Nicole's out of Albany, NY, are well-versed in any and all food allergies/dietary restrictions. Given the bride is gluten-free and allergic to onions, there will be many food options at the cocktail hour, dinner, and desserts for these needs specifically. For any other food allergies/dietary restrictions (e.g. vegetarian, pescatarian, dairy-free, nut allergies, etc), please designate this on your invite RSVP in order to request a special meal/be directed to what cocktail hour food is safe for you/your guest to consume. For any more specific questions, feel free to reach out to the bride or groom directly. While our caterers take food restrictions/allergies very seriously, cross-contamination may be possible given they will be preparing all food in a shared catering tent (Brookledge does not have a commercial kitchen). If you have a severe food allergy such as celiac disease, please contact the bride/groom directly and we will do our best to accommodate these needs. We want all of our guests to feel comfortable and safe and leave our event with full bellies!

Question

Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

Answer

We are blessed with a large family and group of friends who we cannot wait to share our special day with. Given this, our guestlist is at the maximum capacity of our venue, so guests are clearly listed on save the dates and invites. If your partner is listed on the envelope, they are invited! If you received a save the date/invite with "and guest" next to your name, you are welcome to bring a plus one. Otherwise, only those listed on the envelope are invited to the wedding weekend. We appreciate everyone's understanding and wish we could have every person we know!

Question

Am I allowed to bring my child/children?

Answer

As stated above, only the people specifically listed on save the date and invitation envelopes are invited to the wedding. While we love all the kids in our life, our wedding will be a child-free event. We understand if this will be prohibitive for some guests, and we are sorry for this and will miss you on the day if you will not be able to attend. But unfortunately, exceptions cannot be made. We appreciate everyone's understanding so we can have a safe and fun weekend!
