Becca and Rob were partnered together for a doubles tennis match in Watertown, MA the day before Becca's 27th birthday. Becca typically gets nervous before a match when playing with a new partner and takes a few games to warm up. Rob was friendly and supportive, which instantly put Becca at ease. They won their first match together! Before Becca drove home that night she texted her best friend Alex, "I think I have a crush." A little over a month later, Becca & Rob were paired to play together again. After this match, the team went out to celebrate at a bar in Waltham, which ironically used to be The Skellig - a Bentley Undergrad favorite! Becca enjoyed her margarita and conversation with Rob and hoped it would turn into something. A handful of people from the tennis team planned a group trip to Miami for the middle of March, and Rob & Becca hit it off on the trip, then started dating right when they got back. Over the course of the past 3 years, Becca and Rob have grown to love one another and each other's families. They both feel extraordinarily grateful to have found a partner who shares the same values, complements each other's personalities, and enjoys many of the same hobbies, such as tennis, hiking, going to the beach, eating lots of good food & desserts, evening walks, and Netflix marathons (especially Grey's Anatomy and Gilmore Girls).
Becca & Rob planned a trip to The Cove at Yarmouth for a much-needed change of scenery and time to relax amidst the pandemic. While Becca was hoping this might become a special trip for another reason, Rob threw her off course the weekend before. The morning of Monday, August 3, 2020, they packed up their car and got ready to head down to the Cape. "Where's your family?" Becca asked. "We usually see them in the morning." "Remember, it's a Monday. They're at work." Rob replied casually, and Becca thought nothing more of it. A couple hours later, they arrived at the hotel and Becca went inside to check in and get the keys. Then they parked, grabbed their bags, and headed up to room 166. Becca swung open the door to a room full of rose petals, red balloons, photos of her and Rob, and a bouquet of white roses. "OMG! OMG!" was pretty much all Becca could say as she dropped her bags and swung around to find Rob on one knee, ring in hand. Little did Becca know, their families had helped decorate the room and snuck out before Rob & Becca arrived. After the proposal (and Becca taking a million photos of the set-up), Rob insisted Becca change out of her gym clothes and into something "a little nicer" before driving to meet their families for lunch, which was a wonderful surprise! The couple was enthralled to make this next step toward Forever together and enjoyed their week of solitude lounging at the beach and soaking up every exciting minute of being newly engaged. They are both very excited to spend their special day in September 2021 with you, and Becca can't wait to put a ring around the Rosenbaum!
