Santa Barbara is feeling extra European these days thanks to the introduction of the State Street Promenade. The heart of Downtown Santa Barbara’s entertainment and retail district has transformed into an expansive 10-block pedestrian walkway between Sola and Gutierrez Streets. You can now explore, browse, shop, sip, and dine while enjoying the architectural beauty, sights, and sounds of State Street—without car traffic.
Enjoy 360-degree views of the Santa Barbara skyline atop the famed Santa Barbara County Courthouse Clock Tower, now open and accessible to the public. Free one-hour tours are offered Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m and 2:00 p.m with no reservations required.
This path along the Pacific ocean offers one of the most beautiful views of Santa Barbara’s oceanfront and mountain range. You can begin outside of the Santa Barbara Inn and walk all the way up to Shoreline Park where there’s a chance to spot dolphins. Rent a bicycle or a surrey at Wheel Fun rentals to explore the boulevard on wheels.
