FAQs

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please RSVP by Sunday, 26 March.

Question

Are you getting married in the US or the Netherlands?

Answer

Actually, neither! Part of the beauty and fun of us being from two different countries is a blending of our cultures. In the Netherlands, partners can choose from two different forms of living arrangement: they can marry or enter into a registered partnership. We’ll be in a registered partnership before we arrive in Santa Barbara for the celebration.

Question

Will there be a ceremony?

Answer

There won’t be a ceremony at this celebration. We want to focus the brief time with our guests on (re) connecting, cheersing, and making memories together.

Question

So, is this a wedding?

Answer

Nee (that’s ‘no’ in Dutch). We like to look at the weekend as a celebration that we’ve found each other and will be each other’s lifelong co-pilot. As we celebrate this time in our lives together, we want the focus to be on building connections and memories with all of our guests to cherish and support us for the many adventures ahead.

Question

Are you also having a party in Amsterdam?

Answer

It’s to be determined! Once we make a decision, you’ll be the first to receive an invite to the land of bicycles and stroopwafels.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

April is a lovely time in Santa Barbara. The temperature is usually between 67°F to 70°F (20°C to 22°C), rarely falling below 60°F (15°C) or exceeding 78°F (25°C). The temperature can drop at nighttime, so we suggest bringing a shawl or light jacket. The majority of the weekend festivities are outside. There are heat lamps at all evening venues.

Question

What about COVID?

Answer

Our first priority is everyone is safe, happy, and healthy. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the date.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Please check your invite for your +1

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Kids are welcome on the activities on Friday and Sunday. Saturday’s activities are for adults. Please let us know in your RSVP if you plan to bring your kids so we can provide you with more details about babysitting services.

Question

Are the Friday and Saturday locations wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes, both locations are wheelchair accessible.

Question

What should I wear on Friday?

Answer

This is a casual evening! Wear whatever you feel festive and comfortable in.

Question

What should I wear on Saturday?

Answer

Semi-formal to cocktail attire. The cocktail site is on the grass, so be mindful when picking out any high heeled shoes.

Question

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Answer

The cocktail hour is on grass, so we suggest that ladies wear block heels or flat shoes.

Question

Is the dinner on Saturday indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The cocktail hour and seated dinner are both hosted outdoors. There is an overhead covering and heat lamps for dinner.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

Complimentary valet is available at the venue on Saturday.

Question

Whom should I call with questions?

Answer

Please call Deborah (Samson) Diaz with questions at 805-708-3486.

Question

Will food be served?

Answer

Absolutely. Full meals will be served on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Question

What if I have a dietary restriction?

Answer

Please let us know in the RSVP form, or send an email to Becca to rsamson21@gmail.com

Question

When should I plan to arrive in Santa Barbara?

Answer

We recommend arriving no later than 2pm on Friday to join for welcome drinks and bites.

Question

I am coming from out of town. When should I book my accommodation?

Answer

Santa Barbara is a very popular destination. We recommend booking your accommodation as soon as possible

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have room blocks at Santa Barbara Inn and Harbor View Inn. Visit the Travel page for more detail on how to book and rates.

Question

What time will the Saturday reception end?

Answer

The reception will end at 10:00pm.

Question

Will there be dancing at the Saturday reception?

Answer

Unless you plan to wiggle in your dinner chair, there won’t be dancing at the reception. After the reception, we plan to travel to a bar/lounge for drinks - and dancing likely will ensue.

Question

Will there be any activities happening that I need to know about?

Answer

Yes! See the schedule for the details on the activities we’d love for you to join over the weekend.

Question

Is there a gift registry?

Answer

Of course, your efforts to travel to be with us is a tremendous gift to us. If you’d really like to get us a gift, we have made a registry with several items for our home and special experiences for our hiking trip to Scotland. If there's something you'd like to gift us and don't see it on the registry, reach out to Becca via email (rsamson21@gmail.com) and we can work together on selecting an item/store that ships to Amsterdam. If you’d like to contribute to an activity on our Scotland trip, we encourage you to think back on some of the most special moments from your trips with your friends and family that you’d enjoy for us to experience. We promise to send you a postcard!

Question

I have a question not answered here; how do I contact you?

Answer

Send an email to Becca at rsamson21@gmail.com.
