This is where Brandon and I developed our love of rollerskating! A great place to take the kiddos, or to channel your own inner child. In addition to the skate loop there's a rock climbing wall, an ice cream truck, and two restaurants (Noodlehead and Millcreek Pizza House). Skate admission $7/skate rentals $5, climbing wall admission $7/shoe rental $5
This is a great short hike behind the University of Utah that gives pretty impressive views of the city from above. The trail is fairly well maintained, but closed-toed shoes with decent traction will certainly make your life easier. Fall weather in Utah can be pretty variable and it's very dry here year-round; please practice safe hiking by packing plenty of water for each member of your party and light layers.
Ok full disclosure, we've never actually been here. BUT we've heard great things from everyone we know who has. So if you do go, report back, let us know how it was!
If you want to see some of the natural beauty Utah has to offer in a more controlled/accessible environment than a hiking trail, take a stroll around the beautiful Red Butte Gardens. Also during October the gardens put on a special BOOtanical event (daytime and evening admissions available) for kiddos that's lots of fun!
If you want to pick up a little trinket to remember your time in Utah but are looking to avoid the standard tourist fare, this is the place. Salt and Honey is overflowing with beautiful, often handcrafted goods (some that are Utah-themed, many that are not) to help you commemorate your visit while supporting local vendors and artists.
As East Coasters, there are two major food groups that have been sorely missing in our lives since we moved west: good pizza and good bagels. Fortunately, Baby's Bagels has solved one of those problems. Grab a bagel sando and after, pop next door to grab a coffee and peruse the record store!
It's a bit of a trek to get out here, but if you have some time to kill over the weekend and you're into whiskey, this is the place for you. Katy's dad was drinking High West before he even knew it was made in Utah, so naturally once he found out we went to the distillery during one of his visits and had a blast! If you want a distillery tour, it is strongly recommended to make a reservation. If you want the High West experience a little closer to civilization, there's a High West Saloon in downtown Park City as well. Please bear in mind that both of these locations are licensed as bars, meaning no one under the age of 21 is allowed inside.
One of our favorite breweries in town; great German-style beers with indoor and outdoor seating, as well as rotating food trucks out front! Please note that the brewery is licensed as a bar, so no one under the age of 21 is allowed inside.
This is a great little restaurant tucked into Millcreek Canyon, one of our favorite places to hike. It's definitely on the pricier side, but in our opinion it's worth every penny. Make a reservation and drive up a little early to catch the sunset through the beautiful fall aspens in the canyon. Even if you'd rather skip the meal, this canyon is worth a visit for a drive or a walk!
This is the biggest Costco in the world if you're into that kind of thing.
