Travel Note
We have reserved the entire Hawking's Haven glampground to host our wedding weekend. The property is 5 acres right on the Arkansas River with great views, fire pits, a sauna and hot tub, and more. The lodging at Hawking's Haven is all "glamping"—large canvas yurts (fully furnished, heated with gas fireplaces), a shared bathhouse (including showers), outdoor kitchen, etc. Barrett and Dirk are managing all of the glamping reservations directly and they will be first come first serve (48 spots). If you'd like to stay at Hawking's Haven (which we'd love!), email or text us for details on pricing, etc. (Important note: Camping or staying in a van/RV on the property is not allowed).
Travel Note
Early fall is still very busy in town—we recommend booking your lodging as soon as possible. We have reserved the entire Hawking's Haven Glampground (see above) and would love for you to stay there with us. Buena Vista is at ~8,000 feet and September weather is typically cool. Make sure to drink plenty of water, bring sun protection, and pack warm clothing to be outside. Buena Vista is 2 hours from the closest airport—you'll need a rental car to get to and from the airport, and around town. There are no reliable Uber/taxi services. If you'd like to organize a carpool, email or text us and we can try to help you connect with other guests.
Travel Note
Here are some other lodging options in Buena Vista: -Slackwater Inn (newly renovated motel near Hawking's Haven) -Best Western Vista in (close to downtown Buena Vista) We also recommend checking out Airbnb for larger groups. September can be quite busy in Buena Vista, so we recommend booking your lodging as soon as possible. There are also great lodging options in Salida, which is about 30 minutes away.
Flight
COS is the closest airport to Buena Vista and is about a 2 hour drive from Buena Vista. It's a small airport and easy to navigate. DIA is the largest airport option with a lot of flights each day, and is ~2.5 hours from Buena Vista. If you'd like to carpool, connect with Barrett or Dirk and they can help you find people to ride with.
