I met Evelyn when we were in medical school , and I just remember wanting to impress her. I thought she was so cool and so beautiful, it was like trying to befriend a model. On our first date, I tried to play it cool and impress her with my knowledge of politics and “The Shining.” Little did I know, she was trying to impress me too. She came dressed as a snowman to my “S” themed birthday party, and requested to borrow shorts from me when there were three women living in the house. Should have been my first clue. Evelyn has always impressed me with her thoughtfulness and determination. When I moved to Virginia and she stayed in Texas, we were uncertain of long distance. Then, when she came to stay with me for a month, we were worried that our test run of moving in together would be a disaster. She made sure we made it through those challenges and more by being committed and kind with me in all things. Over our years of dating, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know her and I’m so honored she agreed to marry me! Thank you for joining us on our big day!

Sam was wearing hot pink swim trunks the first time I met him and I knew immediately that I liked him. He has such an infectious energy about him that every time we were in a room together, no matter how many other people, I always gravitated towards him. I basically tricked him into going on a date with me, telling him I had asked several other people if they wanted to join us and no one did when in reality I hadn’t asked anyone. Being with him has turned me into a more thoughtful, kinder person. I knew that that was someone to keep around. We’ve been through a lot in our time together, including a global pandemic, two intern medical residency years, and a year of long distance dating. Despite this, each day with him as my partner has been better than the last. Who wouldn’t want to marry someone like that? How lucky am I that a person like that is my best match? We’ve learned together, grown together, gone through tragedies together and are still so happy to be with each other. I’m so grateful that Sam agreed to be my partner in this life and I can’t wait to celebrate our wonderful love with all of you.
