Travel

We're so excited for you to get to know the city we love! There's tons to do, and we'll have some recommendations for you that you can sort through based on your interests and how much time you'll have to spend. But first: the logistics. Where to stay: We've got a hotel block at Hotel Ballard (see below for more details).

Shuttle

Transport from the Ceremony to Reception

August 6, 2022 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

You may have noticed that our wedding ceremony and reception are at two different locations! The garden is about 7 blocks north of the Fremont Abbey. It's a short, 10-minute walk, either on flat ground or downhill. We encourage people to walk! We won't have an official shuttle, but we'll have a couple cars who can transport people if they need. The Rose Garden in woodland park is right next to the Woodland Park Zoo and has a large parking lot (also payable by PayByPhone or via pay booth). Parking it $6 for the first 2 hours, then $2/hour to a maximum of $12. There is no overnight parking at that lot. The Fremont Abbey (walking distance from the Woodland Park Zoo lot) also will have plenty of street parking around.

Flight

SeaTac Airport

Seattle's main airport is SeaTac. It's located about a 25 minute drive from Seattle. There are always ubers and lyfts available from the airport, and prices vary greatly depending on timing. There is also a very convenient light-rail system to get from the airport to downtown Seattle and the University District, which takes a little under an hour. The light rail is on the eastern side of Seattle, and our events and hotel are on the west side. So from the station it would either be another bus or a uber/lyft ride to get closer to the events.

Train

Light Rail

There's a light rail system that goes from the airport all the way through Seattle and up to Northgate Mall. It's convenient, fast, and cheap. It costs about $2.50 one-way and takes a little less than an hour to get to University of Washington (UW) Station. There are machines to buy tickets at all the light rail stations. The stops are on the east side of Seattle, which is where our welcome event is. All the other events and our hotel block, however, will be on the west side of Seattle.

Travel Note

Seattle City Buses

Seattle has a great bus system that covers most of the city! It's very convenient to get from Fremont (where our wedding is) to the downtown area and big tourist areas. The app "OneBusAway" is very convenient to get bus schedules/GPS tracking of buses, and the app "Transit Go" allows you to purchase a bus ticket on your phone.

Rental Car

Airport car rental

Seattle is a very drivable city. We love having a car in Seattle, especially for adventures into the mountains. Parking in Fremont is generally easy, whereas parking in Ballard is a little more difficult. Anywhere you go in Seattle, you can pay for street parking using the app PayByPhone or the local pay booth on the street. Street parking is free on Sundays. Be careful of zoning restrictions for overnight parking.

House Or Rental

AirBnB/VRBO

For those guests who prefer to have their own space and not a hotel, we encourage people to book AirBnBs or VRBOs. There are usually plenty of options in Seattle - but book early if you can! Locations: Fremont - a funky, fun neighborhood where we live and where the wedding and reception will be held! Lots of fun restaurants, shops, and bars in lower Fremont (around 36th street near the water). Upper Fremont is a little quieter (that's where we live). Ballard - A very hip neighborhood with lots of breweries and restaurants. Our hotel block is in Ballard because we think it's such a great neighborhood! It's the neighborhood just to the west of Fremont. Wallingford - Another cute, fun neighborhood just to the East of Fremont. Along 45th street there are a ton of restaurants, and outside there it's a very residential area.

Hotel

Hotel Ballard

5216 Ballard Avenue Northwest
Seattle, WA 98107
 (206) 789-5012

We have some rooms blocked off at the Hotel Ballard. It's a very nice, boutique hotel on a fun street in Ballard. There's a ton to do nearby within walking distance, (see: To Do tab) and it's a quick cab ride to the wedding venue and back. We suggest booking early as it's a small hotel and can fill up quickly in the summer. Info: Baker-Pintea Wedding Hotel reservation line: 206-789-5012 Email: reservations@hotelballard.com
