The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a great place for zip lining, hiking, and leisurely nature walks. It is located about 3 hours away from Tamarindo. The Reserve consists of over 26,000 acres of cloud forest and 6 ecological zones, 90% of which are virgin forest. It has a high biodiversity, consisting of over 2,500 plant species (including the most orchid species in a single place), 100 species of mammals, 400 bird species, 120 reptilian and amphibian species, and thousands of insects.

Arenal Volcano National Park

Until recently, Arenal was the country’s most active volcano with an average of 41 eruptions per day. However, the volcano is currently in a resting phase.
