Yes, buying a sim card as soon as you land at the airport is highly recommended. Ask the ground staff where you can get one and they should be able to guide you. Note: You need a local number in order to login to the wifi at the airport. Because of this, please let us know your plans ahead of time, as communication after landing will be difficult.
A bit of caution will serve you well. You can eat anything that's been cooked and is still hot. Avoid raw and cold food, chutneys, or anything water based. However, if it's specified as being made with bottled water, you should be good. Keep these in mind and you'll be able to enjoy all the delicious food India has to offer!
