Join us in Italy!

Our story started at Colorado State University—just two students whose paths happened to cross, not yet realizing how meaningful that moment would become. After graduation, life took us in different directions, as it often does. But in time, it brought us back to each other. In 2020, during the uncertainty of the pandemic, we reconnected. Our first official date took us back to Fort Collins, where we biked through familiar streets of the Oval and to Lucky Joe’s, where we shared a few* coffee bombs, and laughed like no time had passed. What began as a catch-up soon became something much more. We found a connection rooted in a shared love for the outdoors, adventure, and a genuine appreciation for the little things. In the spirit of love (and maybe a bit of healthy competition), Ayanna gave mountain biking a shot to impress Zach—only to discover it wasn’t exactly her thing. Not to be outdone, Zach signed up for the Turkey Trot to win Ayanna over... and quickly realized running wasn't his strength. But those experiences—silly, sincere, and full of effort—brought us closer and reminded us what really matters. Together, we’ve explored the world from savoring fish and chips in the UK to soaking up sun on the beaches of Indonesia, watching snow monkeys bathe in the mountains of Japan, snorkeling vibrant reefs in Belize, and laughing through a memorable bout of food poisoning in Guatemala. Every adventure, big or small, has only reaffirmed what we’ve always known: that the best part of every journey is sharing it with each other. In 2022, we welcomed a furry addition to our family — a goofy, sweet pup named Tova who stole our hearts (and, frequently, our socks). Although Koda wasn't too keen on sharing the attention, they grew to tolerate each other. Two years later, we bought our first home together. A place filled with cozy Sunday mornings (fueled by 7 hours of commercial free football in the fall), home improvement projects, and far too many plants to count. Then, in the winter of 2024, as we explored the powder filled slopes of the Japanese Alps and wandered the vibrant streets of Tokyo, Zach planned to pop the question. Tokyo is the city where Ayanna grew up, and a place close to her heart. On Ayanna's birthday, Zach got down on one knee in front of the glowing Tokyo Tower. And through happy tears and a big smile, Ayanna said yes! From PA school study nights, backpacking trips battling mosquito swarms, way-too-early morning ski trips, to new jobs and degrees, we’ve stood by one another, learning that love isn’t just in the big moments — it’s in the simple ones, too. Now, as we prepare to begin this next chapter of our lives, we feel so incredibly lucky to be doing it in one of the most beautiful places on Earth with our closest family and friends.
