Lisbon, a city of vibrant culture, rich history, and breathtaking beauty, awaits! We can't wait to share this special place with you as we say 'I do'. Prepare to be charmed by its charming streets, delicious food, and unforgettable experiences. From our two trips to Lisbon, we have curated a list of our favorite Lisbon restaurants and bars here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ey643PAX2e1nMLnGA. We'd recommend making reservations for dinner, especially if you are traveling in groups larger than 2 as restaurants in Lisbon have limited seating.
Sintra is a historic fairytale town about 25-30 minutes outside of Lisbon and a great day trip. Its palaces, gardens, and bustling city center make it one of the top tourist destinations in Portugal. We recommend not driving there yourself and to take one of the many busses that leaves from Lisbon daily to avoid parking. Tons of little restaurants and cafes up in the mountains that overlook all the historic sites. Visit Monserrat for a beautiful and peaceful garden experience. Pena Palace is most popular and will likely be more crowded with tourists.
Cascais is an amazing little beach town just outside of Lisbon that you can take the 30 minute commuter rail to for $3 or a $20 uber/bolt. There is no shortage of hotels, restaurants and things to do in Cascais. Beautiful beaches, parks, and a cliff walk that lasts for miles along the coast. Extremely easy to get to from Lisbon and we highly recommend, avoid 5pm as it gets crowded with locals returning from work.
Porto is the second city of Portugal and a little gem. Known for Port wine- this city is loitered with world famous wineries. The Douro Valley is an awesome day trip along the river to experience some of the best wine in the world. Porto itself is a beautiful and fun city. You can get to Porto from Lisbon by train or rental car, the distance is around 3 hours. Would be a good stop after the wedding!
