Things To Do

Should your arrival into Pittsburgh grant you time on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, reach out to Athena & Yiannis for recommendations! We'd be thrilled to suggest our favorite Pittsburgh activities tailored to your preferences.

Strip District

2101 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222

If you're in town early on Saturday and are looking to experience both the old and new of Pittsburgh, head to Pittsburgh's Strip District, a five minute drive from the Hotel Monaco, the Duquesne Club, and the TRYP. Walk down Penn Avenue to explore dozens of ethnic groceries and old-time Pittsburgh staples such as Primanti Brothers, La Prima Coffee, Enrico Biscotti, Colangelo’s Pizza, Penn Ave Fish Co, Pamela's Diner (go for breakfast on Sunday!) and the PA Market. Parallel to Penn Avenue is Smallman Street, which is home to Pittsburgh's refurbished Terminal Building and full of shops and eateries representing the 'new' Pittsburgh. Our favorite restaurants in the Strip are DiAnoia's (open early on Saturday) and Kaya. Best bars include Coop de Ville, Wigle Whiskey, Kingfly Spirits, Cadence, and Cinderlands.

Lawrenceville

Pittsburgh, PA 15201

Walk down Butler street for window shopping and snacks in the 'hip' neighborhood of Lawrenceville. Restaurant recommendations in Lawrenceville include Lola's Eatery, Round Corner Cantina, and Morcilla. If you are planning to be in Pittsburgh Friday night, Pusadee's Garden is the best restaurant in all of Pittsburgh! Make your reservation as early as possible! Exploring the Strip District & Lawrenceville are our top two recommendations for a great taste of Pittsburgh. Both are only a short Uber or drive from the hotels downtown.

Point State Park

601 Commonwealth Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15222

One half mile walk from the Hotel Monaco and Duquesne Club is Point State Park, where Pittsburgh's Allegheny and Monongahela River meet at a 'point' to form the Ohio River. This park is situated with water on three sides, boasts a 150-foot fountain, and has beautiful green space. From the Hotel Monaco & the Duquesne Club, walk to grab a coffee nearby at Da Fer Coffee & Tea's downtown location, then continue onto Point State Park to sip by the water!

Downtown

Pittsburgh, PA

If you'd like to remain in the Downtown area on Saturday and Sunday morning, walking down Penn Avenue is the way to go! Have breakfast at Sally Ann's then a drink at Sienna Mercato’s rooftop, Bridges & Bourbon, or Barcelona Wine Bar. If you're looking to stay closer to the hotel, we recommend Ritual House. Not ready to end the party on Saturday after festivities conclude? Head to Con Alma jazz bar.

Duquesne Incline

1197 West Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219

If you’re feeling adventurous, take a ride up the 167 year-old Duquesne Incline to Mount Washington for the quintessential panoramic view of Pittsburgh and its rivers. Take a stroll down Grandview Avenue and enjoy the view on your way to the Summit cocktail bar, Gordo's, or Coughlin's Law (thank you to Mount Washington resident + Athena's childhood best friend Lindsay Passodelis for her expert recommendations!).
