Our wedding weekend is a very busy one in Pittsburgh. The annual 'backyard brawl,' a college football game between the University of Pittsburgh and West Virginia University will take place on Saturday, September 14 and there is potential for a Steelers game on Sunday, September 15. The downtown Pittsburgh area will certainly be buzzing! We advise you to keep this in mind and please be safe. In addition, this means hotel rates for the weekend are sky-high. We highly recommend you utilize the room blocks we've reserved and listed for you on the Travel Accommodations tab of this website. We apologize for any congestion you may encounter this weekend, but Yiannis & Athena truly cannot (read: will not!) wait another minute to get married!
We kindly ask you to respond under the RSVP tab here on our website by August 1, 2024. We appreciate your timeliness so that we can get to planning a great celebration!
For those staying at the Hotel Monaco or Duquesne Club, there will be transportation provided to and from all events of the weekend. The Hotel Monaco and Duquesne Club room blocks are located in downtown Pittsburgh. Staying downtown allows for a swift getaway to Interstate 79, which is the main highway that will take you to the Welcome Party for out-of-town guests on Saturday and the Wedding Ceremony on Sunday. Both of these events are located roughly thirty minutes north of downtown Pittsburgh. For your planning purposes, please note that the coach shuttles will leave from the Hotel Monaco and Duquesne Club at 4:30pm on Saturday and 2:45pm on Sunday. For those staying at the TRYP hotel or elsewhere, please drive or Uber to the Hotel Monaco if you wish to utilize group transportation. There will be an open-bar both Saturday and Sunday evenings. We want all of our loved ones safe and healthy, so please consider using group transportation even if you've brought your car to our wedding weekend! For those staying at the Fairfield, your hotel is located in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh closer to the Welcome Party for out-of-town guests and the Wedding Ceremony. You can drive fifteen minutes to the Welcome Party on Saturday. On Sunday, you can walk next door to Holy Trinity Church. However, guests staying at the Fairfield will need to take their own vehicles downtown to the Wedding Reception on Sunday evening, as no group transportation will be provided to and from the hotel.
Yes! For our out-of-town Welcome Party on Saturday, there will be valet parking. For the Wedding Ceremony, the church has a large parking lot. For the Wedding Reception, there is a parking lot behind the venue free of charge to guests.
The ceremony and reception are black-tie optional. We encourage guests to dress as fancy as they'd like -- ball gowns, tuxedos, and of course, your best smiles.
ABSOLUTELY! If you are arriving Friday night or Saturday morning, check out the Things to Do tab here on our website. Our blanket recommendation is to pick up coffee at Da Fer Coffee & Tea downtown and continue walking to Point State Park to sip and enjoy. This is all within three quarters mile walk of the downtown hotels. Afterwards, head to Pittsburgh's Strip District for the perfect sampling of old Pittsburgh and new. If you would like additional recommendations or dinner suggestions for Friday night, PLEASE reach out to Athena. She would LOVE to provide a mini-itinerary specific to you!
On Saturday we are hosting a Welcome Party specifically for our out-of-town guests. It makes us feel so loved that many of our friends and family are putting in extra time and effort to be at our wedding weekend. We treasure the opportunity to spend REAL quality time with you the night before the big day! The Welcome Party will be held at Charlie & Jan Petredis' home. There will be plenty of space indoors, on the porch, tented, and poolside to relax and feel very comfortable. We will provide plenty to eat, an open-bar, and inevitably, music and dancing. Yiannis promised he would perform a solo Zeibekiko in preparation for wedding night. We promise you won't want to miss it.
