The castle of Rocca Calascio is a breathtaking mountaintop fortress located in the municipality of Calascio, in the Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo. Perched at an elevation of around 1,460 meters, it holds the distinction of being the highest fortress in the Apennines—and one of the oldest standing forts in Italy. The panoramic views from the top are truly unmatched, offering a sweeping, unforgettable glimpse of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
