Devil's Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa
There are endless activities to do at Devils Thumb. We highly recommend taking advantage of the many amenities that are included with your stay including the pool, hikes around the property, daily yoga classes, lawn games, movie theatre, etc. For those looking to get a true Colorado ranch experience, you can pay for horse back rides, fly fishing lessons, mountain bike rentals, zip lining, archery, hatchet throwing, and more! If you really want to just sit back and relax, Devils Thumb also has a world class spa.
Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park is the 5th most visited national park in the United States, and for good reason! Home to 77 mountains over 12,000 feet, it is one of the most iconic spots in Colorado for mountain views, hiking, and wildlife (RMNP is known for moose, bears, big horn sheep, and elk!) Because of the high elevation, it will likely have snow in May so take this into consideration when picking a hiking trail (snow shoes might be a good play for some hikes). We recommend visiting www.alltrails.com to pick a hike. Make sure to read recent reviews to get an understanding of trail conditions and difficulty!
Winter Park Ski Resort
Just 20 minutes from Devil's Thumb Ranch is Winter Park Ski Resort. Recently voted the #1 ski resort in North America, some mistakenly overlook Winter Park's warm weather activities which includes hiking, rock climbing, golfing, white water rafting, and more! For those looking for a more casual afternoon, the town of Winter Park is home to over 60 restaurants and breweries. Some local breweries include Hideaway Park, Big Trout, and Fraser River Beer Co
Fraser River
As you all know, Joey's favorite Colorado activity is to go fly fishing! For those looking for a convenient introduction to fly fishing, you can book a guide directly at Devil's Thumb Ranch and fish on the property (we've done it before, it's a blast!). Those that are a little more adventurous and may not need a guide, can fish on the Fraser River right outside of the resort (see the link below). For the extreme anglers out there that want an opportunity to catch a trophy fish ("sooo, yeah, they're pretty big"), head west towards Parshall, CO to have direct access to Gold Medal Waters along the Colorado River.
Lake Granby
Lake Granby is Colorado's second largest lake and just 30 minutes from Devil's Thumb Ranch! Rent a pontoon boat at Beacon Landing Marina and enjoy the mountain views!
