Bob Baker Marionette is childhood charm & whismy all wrapped into one vintage package. Bob Baker is a puppet theater nearby our wedding venue and is just as cute, silly, and refreshing as you would imagine. Fun fact: we wanted to get married here but it was WAYYY out of our budget and they were booked for three years out lol
We went to the Huntington Gardens for Mary’s 34th birthday and have been on some other dates since! This garden was created by the same landscape architects as Central Park in NYC. Lots of walking and sun exposure so ensure you have appropriate attire but truly a beautiful LA experience. Picturesque & serene!
Mary and I went on a very cute date here in 2023 and got some lovely, well-lit photos. A sort-of hidden gem in Glendale, this museum is small and only takes about an hour to see. Fun fact: this was our backup venue if Old Brown House was unavailable or not the vibe!
If you are looking for mild hiking with incredible views but less crowds than Griffith Park or Runyon Canyon, look no further! Located in Burbank, this hike overlooks the entire San Fernando valley as well as the iconic Downtown Los Angeles skyline.
We have been to The Broad (pronounced like "bro'd", not "bra'd") on many dates and it is always a delight! Free admission, except special exhibits (e.g., Yayoi Kusama's "Infinity Room") but make a reservation first! After your visit, take a quick jaunt to Grand Central Market (famous dining hall eatery) or The Last Bookstore.
This is a famous food hall in Downtown Los Angeles, with savory, sweets, and drinks alike! Our favorite stall is Sarina’s Pupuseria (famously seen in La La Land)! After eating, you can cross the street and pay $1 to ride the famous Angels Flight Railway, a 118-year old funicular (AKA orange train) that takes passengers up Bunker Hill. Once you reach the top, stroll across the sprawling urban plaza to reach The Broad museum, Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), and/or Walt Disney Concert Hall.
This is our neighborhood spot (Mid-City) & is popular yet underrated! You get some insane views of the city as well as some walking, running, biking, or park for sunset views.
Barnsdall Art Park has 360 views of the city atop a grassy knoll as well as a quaint little art museum & a Frank Lloyd Wright house right in the middle of bustling Los Feliz! We have so many memories here and it's a cute space to picnic, hang, or take photos.
The Sherman Oaks mini golf is an infamous LA landmark which has been around for several decades -- and shows it! A family-friendly, inexpensive, and campy activity where you can have a few rounds of mini golf and pose for fun photos on the original grounds.
