Flying into Charlottesville

We recommend flying into Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO)- it’s about 15 minutes from downtown and is very convenient if you plan to Uber/Lyft to most of your destinations. It’s a smaller airport, so flying in and out is always a breeze. For more options, the Richmond International Airport (RIC) is about 1.5 hours away and Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington, D.C. is approximately 2.5 hours away. Both airports have a wide range of rental car and transportation options. RIC and IAD are typically less expensive to fly into than CHO, but Uber/Lyft fees from Richmond and D.C. can quickly make up the difference. While it’s a slightly higher price point compared to the other options, it’s ideal if you want to be within walking distance of Downtown Charlottesville, local attractions, and late-night activities on the corner.
