Alex and Arielle connected over our love for exploring new places early on. After meeting at Dartmouth in 2008, we each spent extended time abroad (Buenos Aires for Arielle, Berlin + Paris for Alex), before reconnecting in San Francisco in 2013. After many platonic hikes, dinners, drinks, and parties with friends, we finally sealed it with a kiss on New Year's Eve 2015, at the stroke of midnight, with Arielle's brother Michael nearby (as was tradition, you'll have to come to the wedding to hear more about that one!). Unluckily for both of us, Arielle was moving to NYC 2 weeks later. But a little distance was easily overcome, and a delightful phone call from Alex on Valentine's Day confirmed what we each suspected - there was something special to explore here. Before making it "official", we planned a vacation to Portugal that summer. As the plans came together, so did our love, and it was after a beautiful beach day + fresh fish dinner in the small fishing village of Salema that we exchanged our first "I love you's". The rest is history! From San Francisco to New York, to Michigan, to New York again, and all of the adventures in between, we're grateful every day to get to explore the world by each other's side. In that spirit, it was important for us to bring our community to a unique place where we could all create memories together. Arizona is where Alex was born + raised, and has become a very special place for the both of us over the years. Every Christmas break, we set out to explore a different part of the state, including New Years 2020, when we got engaged at the Grand Canyon :) We are so excited to share the beauty of the desert with our closest loved ones!
