Question

What's Petropolis like?

Answer

Petrópolis is a charming mountain town about 1.5 hours from Rio de Janeiro. It was once the summer home of Brazil’s imperial family, so you’ll see beautiful architecture, gardens, and lots of history. The vibe is relaxed and elegant, with great restaurants, nature, and cool mountain air. It’s safe, welcoming, and full of little gems to explore.

Question

What’s the best way to fly to Petrópolis?

Answer

From the U.S. There are plenty of direct or one-stop flights into Rio (GIG) from major cities like New York, Miami, and Atlanta. This is the closest international airport to Petrópolis. São Paulo (GRU) is also a good option if you find a better fare. Just be sure to book a short connecting flight to Rio. Book early and try to arrive during the day for a smoother trip. From Aruba GOL offers direct flights from Aruba to São Paulo (GRU) every Wednesday and Saturday. If you book early, they can be very affordable. From São Paulo, you can book a short domestic flight to Rio (GIG) to continue your journey. From Europe There are great flight options into both Rio and São Paulo from cities like Lisbon, Paris, Madrid, and Frankfurt. São Paulo often has better international fares, but you will need to take a connecting flight to Rio (GIG) to continue on to Petrópolis. São Paulo or Rio – which one should I fly into? Rio (GIG) is the most convenient since it is closest to Petrópolis. That said, São Paulo (GRU) is also a solid option, especially if you find a better fare. Just be sure to add a connecting flight to Rio as part of your itinerary. We do not recommend driving or taking a bus between cities.

Question

When should I arrive to Petropolis?

Answer

Please plan to arrive in Brazil by Wednesday, September 9. It is best to land during the day to make your travel to Petrópolis easier and more relaxed. This also gives you time to settle in before the welcome activities begin on Thursday.

Yes, children are welcome to join for the wedding week. However, on the wedding day, the ceremony, and reception will be adults-only.
