Our story began one December afternoon when the algorithm gods aligned and nudged us to swipe right. A few days later, we met for drinks on a rooftop in Los Angeles—both trying very hard to act normal despite… not feeling normal at all. On Lucas’s end, he was internally spiraling after realizing the woman walking toward him was an even bigger smokeshow than he was prepared for. Meanwhile, Daniela had just parked her car under an apartment window where she accidentally witnessed two strangers conducting a full-frontal… love workshop. Needless to say, both of us arrived slightly rattled. Thankfully, one drink was all it took to break the awkwardness. The nerves melted, the conversation flowed, and within minutes we were talking like two people who had known each other for years. We bonded over our shared immigrant backgrounds, family values, love for travel and scuba diving, opera nights, and our endless string of meta conversations about life. As we danced the night away something clicked, something big. A couple dates later at the Getty Museum, after what sounded suspiciously like a panic attack, Lucas pushed through the adrenaline and managed to ask Daniela to make things official. She said yes, and everything changed. Things moved quickly in the best way: Lucas flew to Aruba to meet her family, and soon after Dani joined him in Portugal for his family reunion. Her Portuguese fluency kept her alive that week, and after surviving each other’s families, we both knew this was the real deal. After a year and a half of adventures, and too many deep conversations for two normal human beings, Lucas brought Dani to the Hollyhock House - her personal architectural Disneyland. When he finally managed to lead her to the spot he’d chosen, Lucas took a deep breath, forgot every word he had practiced, and improvised from the heart. And somehow, in the middle of all the nerves, it came out perfect. Dani said yes through happy tears… and maybe a little laughter. What started with a swipe became a love that feels like home. As we step into this next chapter, we’re grateful for every moment that led us here and for the friends and family who have been part of our journey. We can’t wait to celebrate our forever with you.
