Please let us know ahead of time if you would like the opportunity to stay IN THE CASTLE with us the night of the wedding (10/17/24)! We have 19 available rooms and will need to provide a list of guests AT THE LATEST 3 months prior (7/18/24). Once we have our list, our coordinator will then send you a link to book and secure your stay. Please note that rooms will need to be claimed and paid for AT THE LATEST 8 weeks prior to the wedding (8/15/24). We will be reserving rooms for our wedding party FIRST before extending an invitation for family or guests to stay at the castle. Additionally, we will be basing room assignments on individual circumstances and a first-come, first-serve basis. Ask April or Aaronn for more information if you’re interested in staying with us!
Flight
DUB will be the easiest place to fly into, as it is the nearest to our venue and the largest airport in Ireland. For a list of what airlines fly into Dublin, please see the linked Wikipedia page. From the United States of America, there are plenty of origination options, such as Newark (EWR), Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP), Chicago (ORD), Philadelphia (PHL), and Denver (DEN) to name a few! In the United States, you can start booking flights between 6-11 months in advance, depending on the airline. Generally, the earlier you book your flight, the cheaper it will be! If you have any additional questions, concerns, or general help needed for finding a flight, please contact Aaronn.
Travel Note
A passport is required to travel outside of the United States to other countries. We have provided a link with all the passport information you need. You will have to apply in person and there is a fee of about $150. Please make sure to get this done ASAP as appointment availability varies and processing time is currently 6-8 weeks plus a 4-week variation for shipping times. *Note: Please make sure you have a current and up to date passport in order to leave the country and fly into Ireland. This means that your passport cannot expire in 6 months or less than when you are traveling and that all travel documents must match your identification forms (i.e. all names must match on your license, passport, and boarding passes).*
Travel Note
Some options to get around include rideshare apps (such as Uber or FreeNow) or to call a taxi. Please note that all rideshare apps in Ireland are just a way to book a cashless taxi trip in Ireland and do not operate the same way Uber/Lyft operate in the United States.
Travel Note
If you are comfortable, we recommend getting an international license from your local AAA! This will allow you to rent a car and drive in 150 countries (including Ireland) if that would be more suitable for you. We have provided a link to the International Driver's Permit page through AAA below for more information. *Note: International Driving Permits may not be issued more than six (6) months in advance of desired effective date* Additionally, we will be providing transportation from Castleknock Hotel to the castle for our guests staying at the hotel. Please ask either of us for more information or if you need any further assistance!
Travel Note
Google Maps works very well in Ireland! However, based on your mobile service provider, you may want to download the map of Dublin and its suburbs in advance. WiFi is generally available at public locations, but it is best not to rely on it.
Travel Note
While many places will accept credit and debit cards, please keep in mind that the currency of preference in Ireland is the Euro. We recommend having physical Euros on you, which can be obtained from ATMs in Ireland or in advance through an appointment with a bank. We recommend not going to a currency transaction location, as they tend to charge higher rates than the actual currency conversion rate by a large margin. Additionally, make sure to check your exchange rate on your debit/credit cards and let your applicable companies know that you are traveling outside of the U.S. so your card doesn't get locked!
