How We Met

January 2018

We met in the modern day and age of a dating app called Coffee Meets Bagel. We chatted for a bit, finding out we had a lot in common, and decided to meet one another in person. We explored the city on our first night together and talked about everything; music preferences, best food places in town, future plans. We enjoyed talking with one another so we decided to go on an official date: Olive Garden while April was sick! Even though it was not under the best circumstances, we both were comfortable with one another instantly and wanted to see one another, regardless of the good or the bad that came with our time together. We continued to chat, eat lots of food, and survive a brutal Minnesota winter together. We even dealt with the hardships of being long distance and completing a few Tough Mudders together. But after the pizza was up in the air, we caught feelings and a number of flights, leading to a Love Story that we hope will last for ages!

How Aaronn Proposed

January 2020

After discussing our future together, we decided on a ring and left Aaronn to plan the proposal. April did not think Aaronn could pull off a proposal secretly, but Aaronn had a few tricks up his sleeve. He was able to find a time when April's closest friends would be in town and enlisted them to help. Even after April threw a concert beforehand into the mix, Aaronn planned a night out to sing karaoke at a local bar in Minnesota (we first said we loved each other during a karaoke session!). Before the clock hit midnight, we went on stage and sang "Love Story" by Taylor Swift and Aaronn proposed right after the bridge: "He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring, and said... 'It's a love story, baby, just say...'". As April finished the line with an ecstatic "Yes!", the crowd went wild, and we celebrated our engagement with friends. As a couple, we decided to celebrate being engaged by taking a trip to Ireland, right before the world closed down.

COVID and Kentucky Fried Chicken

February 2020 - December 2023

After we traveled across Ireland to celebrate our engagement, we came back just in time for COVID to put everything (and everyone) on lockdown. While April was in Grad School, Aaronn took a leave of absence from work and was able to land a job with Amazon... in Kentucky. After much discussion, we decided to take a leap of faith and moved halfway across the country during the summer of 2020. We were able to enjoy a lot of firsts during this time: buying a house, adopting an adorable chocolate lab named Chad, and adopting a stray black kitten named Salem. We also went through a lot of struggles during this time that would test our relationship: major surgeries, raising a sick puppy and a naughty kitten, serious illnesses, and getting COVID on top of it all. Somehow, through all the chaos, we were able to pull through together and make it out alive from the last 3 years. We have already put "through sickness and in health, through richer and for poorer" to the test and now we are ready for our next adventure: planning a wedding!

Current Events and Our Wedding

January 2024 - Now

After much discussion and research, we decided to go full out and get married at Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin, Ireland. We loved the country so much that it made sense to spend our happy day in an enchanted castle instead of settling for something in the States. We are looking forward to celebrating with you all and we hope we can see all of the faces that have been a part of our blossoming relationship!
