Washington Reception Itinerary

This is a general list of activities we have planned, as well as additional things to do in the area.

Campfire S'mores Session on Friday Night

CANCELLED: due to increased fire risk, dry conditions, and the state of wildfires currently, we will not be having bonfires.

Saturday Breakfast

Continental breakfast available in the main lodge at 9:00 am.

Vow Recital & Speeches in the Outdoor Chapel - 11am

Please gather with us in the outdoor chapel following breakfast to hear us recite our vows.

Dads Grill-Off on Saturday Night

Tentative menu: Grilled chicken, bratwurst, vegetable skewers, potato salad.

Dance Party

Celebrate! Saturday night after dinner, come dance, celebrate, and socialize! We will have an assortment of beer, non-alcoholic kombucha, soft drinks, and water.

Chuckanut Drive

If you are traveling to or from Seattle, we highly recommend taking a detour through Chuckanut Drive. This scenic bypass allows you to see where the Cascade mountains meet the Samish Bay. The north end meets I5 in Bellingham and the south end meets I5 in Burlington.

Artist Point Drive-In Viewpoint

If you have the time and want to see some of the most beautiful mountains northern Washington has to offer, Artist Point is just under an hour away from Maple Falls.

Racehorse Falls

If you're looking for an easy hike with a beautiful waterfall view that's in the area, Racehorse Falls is about 30 minutes away from Silver Lake and only 0.6 miles in and out. Great for all hiking abilities, legend stands that some pretty unique fossils and rocks can be found here!

Horseshoe Bend

Another beautiful and easy-moderate trail to hike is Horseshoe Bend, which winds along the Nooksack River. The trailhead lies just off Mount Baker highway and is 2.4 miles roundtrip.

Oyster Dome

If you're traveling through Bellingham and have time for it, Oyster Dome is a classic, local-legend type of hike that may be steep but is worth the view. Plan to gain just under 2000 ft. in elevation on this 6.5 mile roundtrip hike and see fabulous views of the Puget Sound, the islands, and the Olympic mountains.

Homeskillet

521 Kentucky Street, Bellingham, Washington 98225
, 360-671-8502

If you're looking to snag the best breakfast you can find and you're passing through Bellingham, our personal favorite is Homeskillet. This quirky hole-in-the-wall serves Bellingham's (best) coffee, tasty skillets, and the world's biggest breakfast burritos (Stephen's choice). Rachael highly recommends the chicken-fried steak with sausage gravy!

Aslan Brewing

1330 N Forest Street, Bellingham, WA 98225

If you want a tasty, locally brewed beer or cider, you'll find no shortage of places to stop and try while in Bellingham. Of the 14-17 breweries in town, Stephen and I are fans of Aslan! Also check out Shweinhaus Biergarten, just a block down from Aslan, for a fun, outdoor setting and pints of grapefruit hefeweizen!

North Fork Brewery

6186 Mt. Baker Highway, Deming, WA 98244

On the way to Silver Lake, you'll pass a small but likely packed restaurant off the side of Mount Baker highway. This little restaurant serves delicious pizza, sandwiches, appetizers, and home brewed beers. We ate here after touring the venue so if you were thinking about stopping, you should!
