FAQs

We anticipate that you might have some questions about the upcoming weekend. If you can't find the answer to your question on this website or on this page, please reach out to us, we are happy to help! Stephen's cell: 425-213-8864 Rachael's cell: 404-784-8568
Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

For the reception, it would be most beneficial for us if you could RSVP by July 7th, but the sooner the better! The RSVP will only show Friday’s date. If you plan on only coming for the day on Saturday, please just let us know via email or text!

Question

Can my children come?

Answer

Sure, we love kiddos! They will love the lake and all the activities this property has to offer. If you want to turn in early and have a quiet area to sleep, there are spacious campsites perfect for a family across the lake (but still on the property) with bathrooms and campfire pits.

Question

What time can I show up to the event on Friday?

Answer

Please try not to arrive earlier than 4:00 pm, as we will be trying to wrap up the set-up. There will still be plenty of sunlight hours left, but we encourage you to pick your camp spot and set up your tent when you first arrive. Please note that dinner on Friday will not be provided but we will have snacks.

Question

Can I visit just for the day?

Answer

Absolutely! We understand that not everyone will be able to camp out for the whole weekend. If you only have the time or ability to make it out for one of the days, we have most of our wedding events planned throughout the day on Saturday (see the Weekend Itinerary for more details). Just let us know when you are able to make it so we can plan food accordingly.

Question

What should I bring?

Answer

Be as prepared as you would if you've gone camping before: tent & poles, pillows, blankets, & sleeping pads, a swimsuit, walking shoes & lake shoes, and bathroom hygiene products. Washington weather is unpredictable so we suggest packing layers and a rain jacket. While there will be a gathering at the outdoor chapel that you may want to "dress up" for, you don't have to pack anything fancy--casual, floral print is encouraged! We will be providing snacks on Friday night, breakfast on Saturday morning, and dinner on Saturday night. You should plan food for yourself for Friday night, Saturday during the day, and Sunday morning. There is a full-service kitchen but because it won't be open for guests to use as they please, we encourage you to bring ready-made foods or your camping cookware! Please BYO drinks if you'd like! If you are staying in the bunkhouse and traveling from out of town, please get in touch with us so we know how many sets of blankets/pillows are needed!

Question

How do I get to Camp Saturna?

Answer

Camp Saturna is located at 9514 Silver Lake Rd, Maple Falls, WA 98266. Coming from south of the area, you will travel along I-5 North until exit 232. From there, follow WA-9 North for about 16 miles until you get to a round-a-bout and take the first exit to WA-542 East (Mt. Baker Highway). You'll follow Mt. Baker Hwy for about 11 miles and then take a left onto Silver Lake Road. The property entrance will be on the right about 5 miles down the road. We will provide markers at the turn onto Silver Lake Road and at the turn-in for the property. *PLEASE NOTE: cell service tends to be sparse in this area so we recommend saving directions from your GPS ahead of your trip*

Question

Is there a schedule for the weekend?

Answer

As of right now, we have some basic events planned for the weekend but we are still working on the details. We will have a full schedule of events ready to share with you closer to the date, but there will still be plenty of open time to mingle, check out the property, and enjoy the lake! If you want to know what we have up our sleeve, visit the Weekend Itinerary page, where you'll see our events as well as some fun things to do in the area if you're around for a longer period of time.

Question

What if I don't have camping gear?

Answer

We will try to coordinate with our friends and family to have extra camping gear available for those who need them. Another option will be to rent gear from REI at one of the Seattle, Bellevue, or Bellingham locations. https://seattle.rentals.rei.com/portal/ https://bellevue.rentals.rei.com/portal/ https://www.rei.com/stores/bellingham.html (call to reserve: 360-647-8955)

Question

If tent camping is physically inaccessible for me, are there any sort of accommodations?

Answer

Yes! If tent camping is inaccessible to you for any reason, please reach out at applesandpeacheswedding@gmail.com or contact Stephen or Rachael directly through their personal email or phone number. There is a bunk house on-site that can sleep up to approximately 40 people on bunk beds. These bunks are split between three rooms. Depending on the state of COVID, we might cut the number of available beds down to ensure safety, but if this happens we will inform you! You would need to bring your own pillows, sheets, and blankets. Because these are available on a limited capacity, we will reserve what is available for those who request these physical accommodations and cannot guarantee that these beds will still be available upon arrival. We want to make sure you are as comfortable as possible this weekend, so please do not hesitate to contact us about this!

Question

Can I bring/rent a car camper or camper van?

Answer

YES! If you already have a car rig, the camp spots are perfect for drive-in camping! If you are coming in from out of town, renting a car camper or camper van may be easier and more affordable than renting camping gear and a car for the weekend. We do not, however, have space available for full size campers so unless you have previously been in contact with us about this arrangement, we ask you decide on different accommodations.

Question

How much food should I plan to bring?

Answer

We will provide s'mores on Friday night, breakfast on Saturday morning, and dinner on Saturday night. Because we will be planning meals to accommodate a large group of people, if you have specific allergies we ask that you please bring your own food. Please don't bring food that will require cooking. We will have access to a full service kitchen for the meals that we are providing, but guests will not have full-range access. If you would like to cook, feel free to bring your own camping kitchen gear!

Question

What is the weather like in Washington during late August?

Answer

B-E-A-UTIFUL. On average, August is the driest month of the year in this state so we are hoping for clear skies! Temperatures tend to stay in the mid-70's throughout the month, potentially dropping down to the low 50's or 60's at night. However, the weather is never 100% predictable so we do recommend bringing plenty of layers and a rain jacket.

Question

I'm from out of town, which airport should I fly into?

Answer

There are two airports that will be convenient for out-of-towners. SeaTac in the larger airport that will have more affordable prices of the two; However, it is 125 miles (about a 2 hour 12 minute drive, depending on the day/time...) from Camp Saturna. Bellingham International airport is a lot closer, 34 miles (approximately a 50 minute drive), but because this airport is extremely small, the ticket prices are likely to be expensive.

Question

Can my dogs come?

Answer

We love family pets and we think they would love the lake! If you do decide to bring your pup(s), please be aware that this is a large event with a lot of people and possibly other dogs. We ask that you continue your responsible pet care over the weekend by picking up after potty time.
