Lots of great restaurants (including a couple Anya painted) and a beautiful boardwalk to stroll down! Suggestions include; Bar Sofia - Latin food and Cocktails ToriDori - Asian Fusion Cows Ice Cream - Self Explanitory The Wave - There is a statue of a wave. It is such a tradition to climb it that the city gave up and surrounded it with rubber flooring.
Downtown Public Garden with walking paths, flowers, and a big pond with ducks plus it is near lots of restaurants and shopping. You can tell Halifax has mellowed out because they let you walk on the grass now.
I know, I know, I can hear you already. "Go to a library?!? NERD! I can't even return my book once I leave!" Well first of all, ouch, and second of all it is an architecturally beautiful building with a cafe, great views of Downtown, and is right in heart of the city. Bet you feel pretty bad about that overreaction now...
You know this bar is the best because it has a basement arcade with pinball machines, retro games, and they let Colin do his monthly comedy show there, even though it confuses the owner so much they list it as "Comedy Gameshow Thing"!
If you are going to a pub, which you should, make it this pub then you won't have to worry if you picked the right one.
One of our favorite date night spots, great cocktails and bar bites. If you go please make us seem cool to the bartenders, they are intimidatingly hip.
It is a bit of a drive out there but if you are looking for the classic rugged Nova Scotia coastline views, this is the spot! Just don't become a statistic by ignoring the warnings about the Black Rocks.
The week before our wedding is the Celtic Colours Festival, or Celtic Colors Festival for our American Guests. It is a traditional Celtic music festival with concerts all over Cape Breton Island. Cape Breton is a solid 3.5 hour drive from Halifax so you will need to extend your trip in order to take it all in but if Celtic music is your jam it is a real opportunity and Cape Breton is beautiful in the fall. (Let this write up be forever proof that Colin's teenage grudge against the island of his youth is resolved)
