How We Met

The Overlapping Doubled Arched

In 2005, I was a cashier at McDonald's in Charleston, SC. I clocked out to take my lunch break and begin to scroll my phone. I did the same routine daily; however, one day, something unique happened. In a deep and Geechee voice, I heard someone say, "Excuse Me." I glanced up. Tony was in my presence. The perfect build, complexion, and swag. I could not help but engage in conversation. We had a small discussion, and he proceeded to add his number to my phone. Tony and I conversed for a few days, and he asked me on a date. Our first date was on November 23, 2005, at Applebee's. We continued to enjoy spending time together and made it official. Tony and I welcomed our daughter Mesia to our relationship in 2006. We were young, which caused us to date and broke up several times over the years. In 2008, Tony and I decided to date exclusively. A year later, we welcomed our son Junior. Tony and I both have other children. He admired my son Jordan without any hesitation, and I could not help but love Shamiya as my own. The roller coaster of love continued, and we both decided to end our relationship in 2017. The kids and I relocated to Virginia. We both were dating other people when we noticed that conversations about the children turned into dialogues about us. We continue to be separated, but fate brought us back together. In 2018, Tony and I decided to try this relationship again. We knew that no one would believe our journey. Therefore, we continue to date discreetly. A year later, we made it official and tried this love thing for the last time. Since our last vow to be together, we have done the work. Tony and I have both grown into awesome mates and better parents. We have forgiven each other's past mistakes as we pledged never to look back. Most of all, we are enjoying the Ferris wheel of love. The ride is exciting, romantic, and most of all, it is providing us some beautiful sights. Therefore, Tony asked me to marry him in February 2020. I said, yes!
