We’re getting married! Nos vamos a casar!

Antonia: "We met on LaPlata Beach at the University of Maryland! Our friend, Verónica, had agreed to meet us both at the same time to give something back to David and then go to lunch with me. He showed up, biking, as usual, we exchanged small talk, and said goodbye. David invited us to a party at his apartment, some flirting occurred, we danced ... next thing I knew, four and a half years had passed, we earned four degrees, adopted two cats, and decided to spend the rest of our lives together!" Antonia: "Nos conocimos en LaPlata Beach (un parque) de la universidad de Maryland! Nuestra amiga Verónica, quedó de verse con los dos al mismo tiempo para entregarle una cosa a David e ir a almorzar conmigo. El llegó, en bicicleta como siempre, charlamos y nos despedimos. David nos invitó a una fiesta en su apartamento, coqueteamos, bailamos ... y de repente, habían pasado cuatro años y medio, habíamos terminado cuatro carreras, adoptado dos gatos, y decidimos pasar el resto de nuestras vidas juntos!"

David: "When we first started talking about marriage, I had told Antonia that I thought to propose on the 24th of December was cheesy. Skip forward to 12/24/19, and I have the ring ready, I've asked the parents, and it's go time. It is now 4 pm, and we are attending the Christmas Eve family gathering with both our families. There are over 40+ family members including a flock of rowdy children. During this time of joy and celebration, it is customary to sing a song in which the verses are: 'My name is (fill in name), and I come from (insert place), and I bring (insert a gift that rhymes with the place).' After some much needed deliberation with Alejandra, Toni's younger sister, we had brainstormed a few possible verses that I could sing in my turn. When my turn came, I sang: 'My name is David Kriesberg, and I come from round here. And I hope that Antonia will say yes to me.' (it rhymed in Spanish, I promise). I got down on one knee, she cried, chaos ensued, and she said yes!” David: “Cuando empezamos a hablar sobre matrimonio, yo le había dicho a Antonia que una propuesta de matrimonio el 24 de diciembre era muy cursi. Estamos a diciembre 24 de 2019, y ya tengo el anillo, ya le pedi permiso a sus papas, y estoy listo. La mañana se paso haciendo vueltas, y ahora son las 4:00 pm y estamos en la celebracion de la Navidad con nuestras familias. Hay más de 40 miembros de la familia incluyendo un grupo de niños enloquecidos de la emocion. Durante esta celebración, se canta un villancico donde cada uno canta una estrofa: ‘Yo soy (nombre), y vengo de (lugar), y al niño Jesús le traigo un (cosa que rime con el lugar).’ Después de mucho planear con Alejandra, la hermana menor de Antonia, habíamos ensayado algunos versos que yo podría cantar en mi turno. Cuando llego el momento, yo cante: ‘Yo soy David Kriesberg, y vengo de por aqui. Y espero que Antonia, me diga que si.’ Me arrodillé, ella lloró, el resto del mundo se enloquecio, y me dijo que si!”
