In late winter of 2021, Anthony was living back home in Westfield after residing in Jersey City and New York for many years, and Adrian was living at home in Colonia after graduating law school and starting her legal career. Having made it through a year of trying (and failing) to date with Covid restrictions, they were both finally ready to start getting back into the dating scene. On March 8, 2021, after thinking she had exhausted all possible prospects in the tri-state area, Adrian came across Anthony’s "like" on one of her photos on the dating app Hinge. Anthony complimented her smile, and, more importantly, her dog Kiera, which was an instant opening to her heart. The two happily exchanged witty banter and they quickly arranged a date to meet. On March 20, 2021, they went on their first date at Paragon Tap and Table in Clark, close to where they both lived. After what felt like a couple of rounds of job interview questions from Anthony, Adrian, much to her surprise, realized they actually had a lot in common. Despite the spirited interrogation, Adrian found that she couldn’t stop smiling. On their way to the parking lot, Adrian was anxiously awaiting a hug goodbye, and perhaps even discussion of a second date, but when she turned around, Anthony was already striding across the lot to his car waving goodbye. Adrian left feeling rather confused, and questioning her outfit choice that evening and whether she in fact looked as good as she thought she did. Fortunately, after making Adrian sweat for a few days, Anthony texted her for a second date and the rest was history. After getting to know each other that spring, they spent a picture-perfect summer together, spending much of their time down the shore. The Jersey Shore remains one of their favorite places and was where Anthony proposed almost two years later on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk. Anthony rigged a Skee-Ball machine at Lucky Leos Arcade to print out tickets that asked, “Will You Marry Me” and Adrian could hardly wait to say YES! They can’t wait to see where their relationship takes them, or see what life has in store.
