Not sure who started the conversation that night but we met at my best friend's house party where Eric's friend's band was performing. We didn't exchange numbers but Facebook knew we met as he came up in the "Suggestions" panel.
I starred back from the cash register horrified as some guy I didn't recognize asked me this question. I blankly said, "yes" and handed him the paper bag with a burrito and tortilla chips and his receipt. When he handed me the receipt back I read the tip: $0.86. Yes, I still bring it up.
After briefly reconnecting, we decided to go see a live show at the Georgia Theatre and ended up staying out until 2AM. I had classes the next day but that's what Thirsty Thursdays are about, right? We became "official" three weeks later: 04.01.2016
As he steered my out-of-shape body up the constant switchbacks of the Hell that is the Upper Yosemite Falls hike. He was eager to go, I had no idea what I was getting myself into- none. Before the trail a sign at the beginning says, "you will need this much water for this hike", illustrating a gallon of water. We had our peanut butter sandwiches, snack bars, and CamelBaks equipped for the strenuous climb upwards. Taking many pauses along the way Eric thought to himself, "what if we don't make it to the top?". Somehow after all of the switchbacks, we made it to the top. We ate our peanut butter sandwiches took in the view of Half Dome and the Valley and then decided to find our way to the edge of the falls. Getting to the side of the falls was sketchy at best. Following grooves in the rocks until steps cut from rocks appeared. Following a narrow staircase with just a metal handrail we reached a small landing on the side of Yosemite Falls. He popped the question, the rest is history.
