Back in 2022, Annette aka "Anne" aka "Annie", decided to leave her beloved Philly in search for a home closer to home (Puerto Rico #Borikén). After a decade of moving from coast to coast, she was ready for a different kind of adventure; one that (as cliché as it sounds), would change her life for the better. -- Orlando, Fl, here she comes! Meanwhile, William Gabriel aka "Gabe" aka "Bailey's Papa" aka "Nick-Nick-Nick's Roomie", had recently switched jobs and was planning a backpacking trip with his friend Eric "Momo" in Yosemite, taking advantage of a well-deserved time off from his workaholic life. Already a tenured Hinge member with many failed dating attempts, he stumped on what at the time seemed to be a "robot". -- Oh well! [swipes right]. It was late July, and Annie, decided to give that dating app life a third chance. Just a few weeks before moving to Orlando, she downloaded Hinge and just a few days later, a very handsome trucker-hat-wearing guitarist by the name of "Gabe" sent a smooth note her way: "Is that CrossFit?", a comment alluding to one of her "gym selfies" that yes, it had a few ropes and Cross-Fit-e looking background. And Annie, not yet impressed, but intrigued by the not so typical note, decided to entertain the conversation. Annie and Gabe shared a love for the outdoors, music, friends and family, and even more important, The Lord of The Rings - Extended Edition. [There it is! She has to be a robot]. After writing back and forth non-stop for about a week, Gabe, who've already alluded to a kayaking date, let Annie know he would be taking a trip to the mountains and most likely lose reception. [He is so ghosting me!]. Although Annie was a bit disappointed, there was little time to think of it. She was about to embark on a full road-trip from Philly to Orlando, -- a 5-Day adventure accompanied by Anita and Allie (#girlstrip). It was Friday, August 5th, Annie's first weekend in Orlando and her friends had already left. It was also the day Gabe said he would reach back out. He took his sweet time, so she, a strong-independent woman, texted him. He rapidly responded, "i was just unlocking my phone to text you". [Yeah, yeah...]. "How about that kayaking date?". On Sunday, August 7th, 2022, Annie got in her SUV, looking all sporty and cute, ready for the coolest first date ever. Real internal dialogue: "A gator's gonna eat me!...if the kayak flips, a moccasin will bite me"...what if he is a psycho killer and leaves me in a small island by myself?". Anywhooo… Soon enough, Annie parked, got out the car, started walking towards the dock, and saw him first. Gabe was standing by the kayak rental, on time, handsome, tall, real! After kayaking, laughing and having a great time, Gabe asked Annie if she was hungry. They drove to Jimmy Hulas and grabbed some tacos and beers and talked for hours. The perfect first date!

Mientras tanto, William Gabriel alias "Gabe" alias "Bailey's Papa" alias "Nick-Nick-Nick's Roomie", había cambiado recientemente de trabajo y estaba planificando un viaje de mochilero con su amigo Eric "Momo" en Yosemite, aprovechando una merecida tiempo libre de su vida adicta al trabajo. Ya un miembro titular de Hinge con muchos intentos fallidos de citas, se quedó perplejo con lo que en ese momento parecía ser un "robot". -- ¡Bueno. A tirarse la movida! [desliza hacia la derecha]. Eran finales de julio y Annie decidió darle una tercera oportunidad a las citas "online". A sólo semanas de mudarse a Orlando, descargó Hinge y unos días después, un guitarrista muy guapo con gorra de camionero llamado "Gabe" le envió un mensajito chulo: "¿Eso es CrossFit?", un comentario en alusión a uno de sus "selfies de gimnasio" que sí, tenía un fondo que parecía Cross-Fit. Y Annie, aún no impresionada, pero intrigada por el mensaje inusual, decidió entretener la conversación. Annie y Gabe compartían el amor por los "outdoors", la música, los amigos y la familia, y aún más importante, The Lord of The Rings - Edición Extendida. [¡Ahí está! Ella tiene que ser un robot]. Después de textearse por una semana, Gabe, que ya había aludido a ir a kayakear para la primera cita, le hizo saber a Annie que haría un viaje a las montañas y lo más probable es que perdiera la recepción. [¡Me va a pichear!]. Aunque Annie estaba un poco decepcionada, hubo poco tiempo para pensar en ello. Estaba a punto de embarcarse en un "roadtrip" desde Filadelfia a Orlando, una aventura de 5 días acompañada por Anita y Allie (#girlstrip). Era el viernes 5 de agosto, el primer fin de semana de Annie en Orlando y sus amigos ya se habían ido. También fue el día en que Gabe dijo que volvería a comunicarse. Él se tomó su tiempo, así que ella, una mujer fuerte e independiente, se adelantó y le envió un mensaje de texto. Él respondió rápidamente: "Estaba desbloqueando mi teléfono para enviarte un mensaje de texto". [Sí, sí...]. "¿Qué tal esa cita en kayak?". El domingo 7 de agosto de 2022, Annie se subió a su SUV, viendose linda y empoderada, lista para la primera cita más genial de la historia. Diálogo interno real: "¡Un caimán me va a comer!... si el kayak se vira, una serpiente mocasín me va a morder"... "¿y si es un psicópata y me deja sóla en una isla desierta?" Ya estaba llegando, Annie estacionó, salió del auto, comenzó a caminar hacia el muelle y lo vio primero. Gabe estaba parado junto al alquiler de kayak, puntual, guapo, alto, ¡real! Después de navegar en kayak, reír y pasar un buen rato, Gabe le preguntó a Annie si tenía hambre. Condujeron hasta Jimmy Hulas, comieron unos tacos y cervezas y hablaron durante horas. ¡La primera cita perfecta!
