How We Met

We met sophomore year at MNSU in Finite Mathematics, where we were both finance majors. Funny enough, we later realized we had actually been in a history class together the year before—but never spoke. One day in Finite Math, Harrison jumped over the row of chairs behind me and asked, “Should I leave? None of my friends are coming.” Slightly confused about who this kid was, Annabelle responded, “Ummm… why would you leave if you’re already here and class starts in a minute?” To which Harrison replied, “Well then, can I sit here?” And the rest is history.

The Proposal

Harrison proposed on March 11, 2026, after we hiked to the peak of Mirador del Las Torres in Patagonia, Chile—a 13-mile round trip hike with about 3,000 feet of elevation gain. In the weeks leading up to the trip, Harrison was determined to keep the proposal a complete surprise. He did such a good job that during the hike, I (Annabelle) even asked, “So where should our next trip be?” fully thinking he might propose on a different trip. By the time we reached the top, we were both completely exhausted from the hike. Between being so tired and so caught off guard by the proposal, we didn’t even take any photos together at the peak. Before we had left, Harrison texted my dad a photo of the ring with a thumbs up? —my dad responded with a thumbs up. He then told his parents, and finally my sister, even asking her opinion on whether he should propose during the hike or when we were with her later. In an attempt to keep everything a secret, he hid their messages… but accidentally hid her contact completely. So when she tried to reach him later, she thought he was ignoring her and had no idea if she’d need to be ready to film anything—especially since Anna had no service on the trip. A week after the proposal, we took our engagement photos in Colonia, Uruguay, with Annabelle's' sister (Heidi) behind the camera.
