We Are Getting Married!!!

We met at our friends' Chris and Chrissy Gallagher's house on Feburary 8, 2019. Marc was going for his brother Benj's birthday party while Anna was told by her friend Abby Jones that it was a game night. Little did either of us know this night would change our lives. At the party, things just clicked between Marc and Anna. Anna thought Marc was cute and was intrigued by his expansive vocabulary. Marc thought Anna was a "smokeshow" and enjoyed their engaging conversations. Determined to see Marc again, the following day Anna developed a plan with Abby to invite Marc and the other members of the previous night's party to Platform Brewery. (Anna used a play from the middle school dating playbook on this one: invite everyone to not arouse suspicion.) Despite her best efforts, suspicions were aroused on Marc's part. When he received the text inviting the group to the brewery, Marc told his best friend Matt Vogler that "this is for me. That Anna girl wants to see me again." Marc and his friend Matt did show up to the brewery, much to Anna's delight (middle school plays work). At Platform, Marc chose an interesting tactic to win over Anna: ignore her. He didn't want to come across as too eager. After what was more than an hour of being ignored and hearing Marc describe cranberry juice as pleasurable, Anna figured she must have imagined her and Marc's connection the night before. Realizing it was getting late and people we were leaving, Marc finally made a move and sat next to Anna. We talked and made plans to meet up the following evening. We met up the next day at a coffee shop where we talked for 6 hours. (We even had to move to a second location.) On Anna's drive home, she called her best friend Lisa and said "I'm going to marry this one." Lisa thought Anna was crazy at the time.... guess it wasn't too crazy after all.

On June 8, 2020, it was a beautiful June day, and Marc told Anna he was sick and tired of doing puzzles and watching TV (We had a lot of down time with the quarantine and all.) Marc suggested that the two of them go Mapleside Farm to watch the sunset that evening. We went early to get a good spot. We set up a blanket on the hill that overlooked Mapleside's little valley. We sat and talked while we waited for the sun go down. Anna didn't know why Marc was so interested in hearing about the book she was reading. (It makes sense now, he was freaking out on the inside.) While the sun was setting, Marc put his arm around Anna and said some really sweet things and how much he loved her. He then got down on one knee and asked Anna to marry him. Obviously, she gladly said yes! It was a perfect proposal. Marc was even so clever to have asked Anna's best friend Abby to take pictures of the moment. (side note: a couple at Mapleside was very worried that Abby was hiding behind trees "spying" on us.)
