Picnic Deli & Café - Santa Ana
When we were long-distance, this was my hangout when I would come to visit. It's still one of my favorite restaurants I've ever been too (I LOVE cafes and coffee shops). We love any excuse to stop for here for lunch or a snack. Their sandwiches and salads are delicious, but their bakery items are the real stars. Definitely spring for dessert. We love it so much that we asked them to bake our wedding cake!
El Mestizo Mercado Gastronómico
A local gourmet gastro market featuring lots of different restaurants under one roof. A great outdoor patio area! Something for everyone.
Jardín Else Kientzler
A beautiful outdoor botanical garden with a picnic area and short hiking trails.
San José Central Market
A great place for souvenirs, including some of our favorite coffee at Cafeteria El Unico
Jardín Botánico Lankester
This is where we got engaged, so naturally we are a little partial. Their cactus garden is gorgeous and they have an incredible orchid nursery!

Sarchi is the artisan capital of Costa Rica. You can frequently see local artists working and find some beautiful items to take home.
Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center
Rescate wildlife rescue cares for a variety of animals, some for a short period of time before releasing them back into the wild and others for life. You can regularly see sloths, peacocks, howler monkeys, ocelots, jaguars, macaws, and parrots, along with many other species. Great for kids!
