Explore where America's first destination ski resort was born - also home to the world's first chairlift (invented in 1936) and the first female Olympic ski gold medalist (Gretchen Fraser). The Sun Valley Village is actually an idealistic spot you won’t ever want to leave. Here you can find cute little shops (their gift shop is actually awesome), a candy store, ice skating, bars and restaurants, ponds with swans, etc. You can’t visit Sun Valley/Ketchum without exploring the village.
Sun Valley has three courses at the resort (Trail Creek, White Clouds, Elkhorn) plus Bigwood and The Valley Club (private) courses.
Ice skating outdoors during the summer? How fun is that!!
On certain days of the week, Sun Valley throws free concerts at the symphony in the Sun Valley village. Lay down a blanket and have yourself a picnic while listening to the glorious sounds of music and enjoying the sunshine! Check in on the schedule by clicking on “View” below.
If you don’t make an appearance here, you’ll be missing out on the greatest ski town burger spot so it’s a MUST visit
Great bar and bar food area in the resort. Great place to sip on a drink and nibble on some food (the chili is incredible, I don’t care that it’s summer) on the patio, enjoy the crisp mountain air and watch the ice skaters. Also, best espresso martini of your life!
One of our favorite dinner spots!
Great brunch spot - usually a wait so make sure to put your name in before you get too hangry
Favorite dive bar in town!
Roundhouse is on the ski mountain and is available for lunch and dinner. You can hike up to it, or take the gondola up (you will need to buy a ticket for the gondola during the day) for an awesome lunch spot with fantastic views, or you can make a reservation for an upscale dinner and take the gondola up (gondola ride is free with the dinner reservation). Either way, it’s a great experience!
Either their bar or restaurant is fantastic. The fondue is a must order!
Another great dinner spot

How did the Watkins find Sun Valley? Well, ask John Watkins about his love for Hemingway and then you will know all.
They don’t take reservations but this place is incredibly worth it (we DREAM about the chili udon noodles) - whether it’s takeout or putting your name in!
