Chad popped the girlfriend question to Anisha on May 27, 2017, the day she returned from a semester in London. Their love thrived across the miles, from Chad visiting Anisha at Penn State during her senior year to Anisha spending several months working remotely from Chad's South Florida apartment while he was attending Florida Atlantic University. In August 2022, Chad graduated with his Master’s in Ocean Engineering and landed a job in Panama City, Florida. The plan was for Anisha to move in with him full-time in January 2023. As of December 2022, they hadn’t seen each other in months—Chad in Florida and Anisha still in New Jersey. Chad called Anisha’s mom and sister on Christmas Day for their blessing and hatched a proposal plan. On December 31, 2022, Anisha’s mom suggested a nail appointment for her upcoming birthday, but Anisha, being a craft beer aficionado, opted for a brewery visit instead. While there, she jokingly texted Chad to update their Facebook status (which was still "single") and sent him pics of engagement rings—completely unaware that Chad had flown to New Jersey that day and was hiding right down the street at his parents' house, ring already in hand. The next morning, January 1, 2023, Anisha’s sister woke her up for “brunch” (the proposal) at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. Anisha reluctantly agreed to wear a new dress from her mom but resisted any pampering. Before rolling out of bed, Anisha scrolled through Facebook and something caught her eye. Chad, who hardly goes on Facebook, posted "I am breaking up with my girlfriend today. She keeps asking to change our relationship status on Facebook and this is the final strawberry." Anisha's mom even hearted the Facebook status, sparking Anisha's suspicion. As her mom was getting ready in the bathroom, Anisha happened to see her (mom's) phone opened up. Sneakily, Anisha opened up her mom's messages and saw the top one from Chad that said "scouting our locations now." At that moment, Anisha realized a proposal was imminent. With less than 30 minutes to get ready, Anisha scrambled to get ready, and her sister came to the rescue with emergency pampering and glue-on nails. At the restaurant, Anisha's mom went to "check on the reservations"—a cover for gathering family and friends to surprise Anisha. Meanwhile, Anisha, her sister, and family friends who had stayed over the night before, explored the sculptures behind the restaurant. At a wooden arch, Chad appeared with yellow roses and a Hogwarts-style acceptance letter into the Kaplowitz family. Just before Chad got down on one knee, their family and friends emerged, catching Anisha completely off guard. After the proposal, they celebrated with a champagne toast, enjoyed the Grounds for Sculpture's Winter Night Spectacular, and finally updated their Facebook relationship statuses. Anisha and Chad are currently loving life together in Florida and can’t wait to celebrate their marriage with all their favorite people!
