Like all good love stories, Luis and Angie's started in the middle of the dusty Nevada desert. Two people who had no idea they were about to embark on a most beautiful love story. That's right, they met at Burning Man, because of course they did. When Angie first spotted Luis at camp, she thought he was cute but way too young for her. But to Luis, Angie looked like an attractive age-mate, and he insisted on getting to know her. After some good old-fashioned desert bonding, they discovered something pretty amazing: they lived exactly 3 blocks apart in San Francisco and both worked down around Palo Alto. If you've ever done the San Francisco to Palo Alto commute, you know the daily pilgrimage consists of world-class traffic and that the 280 is a much better, somewhat less trafficked, and more scenic route than the 101. With the fog rolling over the mountain coast, one might even say it makes for the perfect journey to get to know someone else. Luis convinced Angie to carpool with him and after months of sharing traffic therapy sessions, he finally wore her down. They started dating, and the rest, as they say, is history. Actually, wait, there's much more to this story. Fast forward to the proposal, which happened right before the world decided to take a little break (you know, when we all thought COVID would be over in 2-3 months). The couple got engaged and planned their dream wedding for that summer, 2020. Spoiler alert: that didn't happen. But did they let a global pandemic stop them? Absolutely not. True to form, Luis and Angie did things their way—the most unusual way possible. At a Starbucks inside a Safeway, with no one but passerby shoppers hoarding toilet paper, the officiant as the only witness, and Luis in his Rick and Morty T-shirt (why mess with a good thing?), they made their vows. Unconventional? Sure. Perfect for them? Absolutely. They had originally anticipated a big celebration the summer after the pandemic slowed down a bit. But life had other plans and delivered their beautiful son Felix. And well, you know how life goes; years fly by when you're busy living them. Five years after their official marriage in the eyes of the state, they're finally throwing the party they never had. In many ways, Angie knows Luis better than he knows himself. But in a few ways Luis also knows Angie better than she knows herself too. Like how he knows that Angie's favorite food is Mexican food and her favorite color is pink. If you ask her, Angie will deny both counts. But here we are, Angie suggesting a wedding in Mexico with Mexican food while eyeing pink wedding dresses. For Luis' part, when they started planning, he had one simple request: he wants it to be "the best party ever, the kind of party you remember for decades". So while we are doing everything we can to make this the case, this is also where you all come in: you can't have the best party ever without the best guests ever. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you beautiful people—the ones who've been part of our journey from desert dust to Safeway vows to Mexican beaches. It's going to be epic, it's going to be us, and most importantly, it's going to be the best party ever.
