In February 2018, Andy was visiting his parents in Punta Gorda, and they were out sailing when Lindsay and Andy matched on Bumble (and Tinder, too)! Lindsay noticed Andy's location on Bumble said Captiva, but his profile said University of Minnesota, so she messaged him and said, "Do you live here or are you just visiting?" Andy said he was just visiting, but he was interested in moving. So even though Lindsay wasn't going on dates with guys who were just on vacation, she decided she had to meet up with Andy because he was just so cute in his pictures. Neither Lindsay nor Andy knew much about where to go in Punta Gorda, so Lindsay randomly picked a place called Gators. She waited outside for Andy, and when he showed up and got out of the car, pretty much the first thing Lindsay said to him was, "Did you Uber here?" Andy said, "No, my dad dropped me off," and Lindsay fell for him right away because she thought that was so adorable. Then later that night, when Andy was closing his tab at the bar, Lindsay thought she heard him say his last name was Mills. She couldn't believe it, because her best friend's last name is Mills too! But she didn't ask, because she didn't want to sound creepy and make him think she was going to stalk him on social media after one date or something. Andy and Lindsay had a blast talking and listening to karaoke that night (but NOT singing). Andy only had one more night in Florida, so they decided to go out again the next night. Then they started texting a lot, and Andy even downloaded Snapchat to stay in touch more! Three weeks later, Lindsay went to Minneapolis to visit Andy for her spring break, and they decided to make things "official"! For the next year and a half there were many trips to see each other in Minnesota, Florida, Colorado, Indiana, and Chicago! In August of 2019, Andy got a job in Florida and moved to Ft Myers, and he and Lindsay have been happier than ever living together with their pets Jello, Lancelot, Calypso, Wade, and their newest addition, Midnight!
Lindsay and Andy had talked about getting married for a long time, but Lindsay had no idea when Andy would propose. The last weekend in August 2020, Andy asked Lindsay to go ring shopping. Lindsay was thrilled! Andy knew Lindsay had always wanted an aquamarine ring, but he was worried about it holding up over time because aquamarine is a softer stone. Luckily, at the second jewelry store Lindsay and Andy went to, they found the PERFECT ring - an aqua blue diamond! Andy ordered the ring that day, and it was supposed to take about five or six weeks to come in and be ready for pickup. Four weeks later, Andy asked Lindsay if she wanted to go to the beach on Saturday, because they both had the day off and hadn't been to the beach together in a while. They decided to stay all day, and they started with lunch at Zushi Zushi. When they got to the beach, they went to Lindsay's favorite spot, away from the public beach, and it was mostly deserted. Andy asked Lindsay if she wanted sunscreen on her back like she normally does when they go to the beach, but Lindsay said no, since they were staying all day, she would lie on her back first and flip over later. They hung out for a while and listened to music, then Andy asked if Lindsay wanted him to put sunscreen on her back yet. Lindsay said no, she would probably wait another hour to flip over. Finally, after a couple hours, Lindsay and Andy went down to the water to cool off. Lindsay was surprised when Andy didn't want to hang out in the water very long and said he would rather go back to their towels. So they went back, and Lindsay said she was ready for lotion on her back. Andy put sunscreen on her back, and when he was finished, Lindsay turned around to grab the bottle from him. To her surprise, Andy was down on one knee holding the ring in front of him!! After Lindsay said yes, she and Andy stayed at the beach to watch the sunset and take lots of pics, then they went to dinner at the PierSide Grill to celebrate!
