Rifugio Friedrich August
TikTok famous for their krapfen doughnuts. A short but beautiful hike from Salei, they have fantastic food, great views, and yaks!
Coffin Gondola / Sassolungo Hike
Coffin gondola that goes from Hotel Passo Sella to the top of the Sassolungo Group. Great hiking and several rifugios from the top. Great views of Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm.
Alpe di Siusi / Seiser Alm
The largest high-alpine pasture in Europe. A stunning meadow dotted with rifugios, relaxed hiking, and great views of the surrounding mountains. Sunset is really nice from up here. Look up how to get here as driving requires a reservation; otherwise buses & cable cars can get you there.
Val di Funes
The most picturesque valley in the world? Just north of Val di Gardena, famous on IG/TikTok for the church in Santa Maddalena. Great hikes and viewpoints including the Santa Maddalena Viewpoint and Adolf Munkel trail. Great for sunset.
Adolf Munkel Trail
One of the "classic" Dolomites hikes, a relatively easy, but super rewarding hike in Val di Funes passing several nice rifugios with amazing views of the Geisler/Odle peaks.
Seceda
Probably the top photo spot in the Dolomites. Famous for its dramatic views and hiking. This area can get extremely crowded. The cable car can be expensive, but the views are breathtaking. Lots of hiking trails and rifugios in the area.
Lago di Carezza / Karersee
Clear, blue lake with mountains & trees reflected it's waters. Short walk/hike from the road. Great bang for your buck stop.
Edelweißhütte
Another rifugio we considered for our wedding. A short hike with good views. Really good food.
Pralongià High Plateau
Known as the "Amphitheatre of the Dolomites" for it's stunning panoramic views and wildflowers. Accessible by multiple chairlifts and trails around the area offering many rifugios, hiking trails, and mountain biking. Trails with views of mountains that face West offer spectacular sunsets.
Tre Cime di Lavaredo & Cadini di Misurina
Probably the most popular hiking area in the Dolomites. Closer to Cortina where the 2026 Winter Olympics are. This is the TikTok famous viewpoint and it lives up to the hype. You need to make an online reservation to drive up and it costs ~40€, otherwise you can take a bus.
Lago di Braies / Pragser Wildsee
Another "classic" Dolomites spot; touristy, but gorgeous. Known for its reflective waters and canoes you can rent. Short hike around the circumference of the lake. ~15€ parking fee.
Lago di Landro / Dürrensee
Drive up lake with great views. Good for swimming if it's warm. The glacial mud feels really good on your skin!
Valle Isarco and Valle dell’Adige
The valleys that run along the highway you probably drove in on from Trento to the Brenner Pass at the Italy-Austria border. Lots of wineries and apple orchards with beautiful views. Known for white wines further north, and sparkling and fresh reds to the south.
Rifugio Angelo Dibona
Epic hike, pretty difficult, with lots of elevation gain.
