Travel

The Wedding Website of Harriet Thompson and Andrew Schoppenhorst
Planes, trains, and automobiles. The following travel tips are tailored for our guests traveling from the United States. If you still have questions or want to make sure your itinerary makes logistical sense, please do not hesitate to reach out to us!

Travel Note

Passports

Please check your passport expiration date and ensure that it is no earlier than January 18, 2027. If it is, you will need to renew your passport before our wedding. Passport renewals can take multiple months, so please plan ahead!

Flight

Flights

We highly recommend using Google Flights to compare flights and track prices. Data suggests that 4 to 8 months out from the date is the cheapest time to buy tickets. If you want the most direct route, look for flights into Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). Delta will typically have the most options for direct flights from Atlanta but savy shoppers will often find cheaper connecting options from other airlines. We encourage you to turn your wedding trip into a European summer and a great way to do that is by flying into or out of a different country! Or if you are flying in and out of Paris, consider staying a few nights to see the sights. To get from Paris to our venue, you will have the option to take a 3hr direct (no changes) train to Angouleme (leaving directly from the CDG airport and Paris stations), which is then a 30-minute drive from the venue or take a connecting flight to Bordeaux which is about an hour and a half drive from the venue. Or if you are craving a French road trip, rent a car at CDG and drive 5hrs to our venue. Still confused? Let us know!

Train

Trains

We highly recommend using Trainline to search and compare train options but know that train tickets do not become available until pretty close to the date, sometimes just a few months. As mentioned, if you fly into Paris, you will have the option of taking a train directly from the CDG airport to Angouleme, which is only a 30-minute drive from our venue and has rental cars at the train station. If you opt to stay a few nights in Paris, there are also trains departing from the Paris central stations to Angouleme. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Rental Car

Rental Cars

Good news, France drives on the right side of the road! But do you need to get a rental car? Taxis are available in the region but are sparse. Your most convienent way to get to and from the venue and around town will be by rental car. With that being said, we will spend most of our time during the wedding weekend at the venue and encourage carpooling between guests. If you do plan on renting a car, please let us know so we can keep track! Rental cars are available from both the Angouleme train station and Bordeaux airport. Or rent a car directly from the Paris airport and make the 5hr roadtrip to our venue! We like to use Hertz for car rentals but there are many other companies in addition to Turo which is often competitively priced in the region.
