Question

What should we do between the ceremony and celebration?

Answer

Since the wedding is now on a Friday, we won't have much of a gap. Everyone from the wedding party should join us for quick photos in the Bishop Garden behind the National Cathedral. All other guests should make their way immediately to the cocktail hour at McClean Gardens starting at 6 PM.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

All children are welcome to attend the Wedding Ceremony and Sunday Cookout, but the reception will be for adults (with a small exception for a couple kids in the wedding).

Question

Is everything walkable? How am I getting around? What about parking?

Answer

All of Friday's activities are located in the Cathedral Heights neighborhood of DC. Bethesda is about a 10 minute drive, (or you can take the metro and walk about 15 minutes). Using Uber/Lyft is generally the best way to get around. There is parking at the church. McLean Gardens Ballroom has no parking. You can either find parking on a neighborhood side street or park at the Giant Grocery Store Parking lot (5 min walk). Parking rates here: https://www.cathedralcommons.com/retail/ The Church, the Celebration venue, the After Party bar are all about 5-10 minute walking distance from each other. So everything is very walkable, but women may want to plan on bringing an extra set of flat shoes to get around. Our new home is about 12 minutes from the old neighborhood and venue and about 20 minutes to the hotel in Bethesda. Parking is available on side streets. Or you may want to Uber.

Question

What airport should we use? What transportation should we take to get to our hotel?

Answer

DC's Washington Reagan Airport (DCA) is the most convenient airport to the city, but you can also use Dulles (IAD) or Baltimore-Washington (BWI). While Uber/Lyft is the easiest way to get around once you are in Bethesda/Northwest DC, a taxi or Uber/Lyft from DCA to Bethesda would be about $40-50. A cheaper option would be to take the metro - which runs directly from DCA to Bethesda. If you are unfamiliar with the DC metro system, you can learn about it on this link here. www.wmata.com/fares/smartrip/
