A lot has changed in the world and in our lives since the spring of 2020! We think (hope and pray) that we're headed toward a time where it will once again be safe enough to gather our family and friends to DC to celebrate our love and life together. We are, of course, already technically married 'on paper.' We had a small ceremony with just the two of us on October 13th, 2020 in the Bishop Garden of the National Cathedral. The next day we moved to a new house, so the wedding is no longer in our immediate neighborhood. But we plan to pick up where we left off and have the wedding we had planned. We'll be convalidating the marriage at Christie's local parish in our old neighborhood on Friday, May 13th. The reception will take place nearby in the original venue, at the historic McLean Gardens Ballroom. We'll continue the afterparty at a nearby restaurant. On Saturday, we'll welcome everyone to our new home for an open house and cook out from 1 PM onwards. No need to come all at once, see a couple DC sights and then swing by! We can't wait to see all of you and are excited to spend the weekend with you - two years in the making!
Online, of course! We had some witty banter over favorite travel spots and plans, and then our first date was at Crimson Whiskey in Chinatown. When Andrew told Christie he'd forgot his credit card, she replied "No worries, I asked YOU out" - so they both knew exactly what they were getting into from the beginning. After that, it was a quick succession of fun dates, ping pong, darts, African art and jazz, and then, in no time at all, a long weekend in the Shenandoah River Valley, family trips to Maine and Mackinac Island, and an unforgettable trip to Southern Spain and Morocco.
We got engaged out on the Eastern shore of Maryland - in the beautiful town of St. Michael's, a historic Bed & Breakfast, crisp fall weather, an amazing sunset cruise, and lots of Champagne!
