Question

Outfit Information

Answer

We’re excited to get Indian Fancy with you all at our wedding at the temple on December 6th. We want to share information on the dress code for this special day as the variety of options can be daunting. Here’s some guidance: Where can I get something affordable, but nice?! For those of you in the Toronto area, Little India at Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street in the East End of the city has a number of shops with outfits at a variety of price points. There’s also the option of shopping for an outfit in India before the wedding. You’ll want to account for alteration time whether in Canada, India, or from an online store.

Question

1. What do I wear?! Women

Answer

Women typically wear one of the below styles to formal events. -Saree -Lehenga -Salwar (also known as a suit that includes a tunic, pants and scarf) -Kurtis (also known as a dress) While a Saree is perhaps the most well-known style, it could be considered the most challenging choice for those new to Indian formalwear. Due to the nature of its wrapping style, wearing a Saree requires pinning that can often be complicated. So, we suggest looking at one of the other three options for ease! You’re of course very welcome to wear a Saree, but you may want to first familiarize yourself with tutorials on YouTube. Any of the above styles can be rented or purchased in-store/online and below are a few places you can use for inspiration. -Saree Room - https://www.thesareeroom.com/ -Mani Jassal - https://manijassal.com/ -Anita Dongre - https://www.anitadongre.com/int/

Question

Indian Visa Information

Answer

Unless you carry an Indian passport, you’ll need a tourist visa to enter India. The process may vary depending on what passport you hold, but it’ll likely be an e-visa that can be carried out online. These countries have e-visas (Canada, United States, United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Chile). You should look into getting your Indian visa shortly after booking your flight. Link: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html
