MD Anderson Cancer Center
We have chosen MD Anderson as one of our registry donations because of its special place in our hearts. Cancer has held a key role in both of our lives because it has affected our immediate families like many others in the world. We want to give back to help fund cancer research and help those in need that cannot fund their medical bills.
Hope Lodge of Birmingham
Similarly to MD Anderson, the Hope Lodge of Birmingham, has a special place in our hearts. The Hope Lodge is through the American Cancer Society. Everyone deserves to have a home. The Hope Lodge does that for those receiving cancer treatment away from home. They offer cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when they are being treated in another location away from home.
American Humane Society
We adopted a stray cat three years ago and although she was only in our lives for a short period of time, but she will never be forgotten. I do not think we will ever look at a stray animal ever the same again. There is always more we want to do for animals locally and nationally. The American Humane Society helps save animals in need in poverty, and abusive and/or neglected households.
River City Rescue Mission
We discovered River City through our church in Vicksburg, St. Michael’s Catholic Church. It is a located in Vicksburg. It is a nondenominational Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation program which adheres to the teachings of Christ rather than the twelve steps one finds in more secular treatment facilities. They provide hope for men who believe they are hopeless and a positive foundation on which to build. In addition their outreach ministry provides food to the hungry and assist families and individuals with clothing and basic household necessities.
