Amy and Kevin were sweating it out together in an un-air-conditioned college dorm for honors students at Virginia Tech. Amy was there because of her illustrious high school accomplishments. Kevin was there because he wrote a funny essay. Amy and Kevin quickly became good friends, then best friends, and then, well, you can ask each of them separately who made a move first.
The year was 2021. 73% of the population had smartphones. Facebook had ruined the country or something. Amy and Kevin lived in an air-conditioned condo in Boston. Kevin saw the beautiful lights on the December trees in Boston's biggest park and thought they reminded him of the most beautiful person he knew. He proposed under the lights of those trees with a ring he bought an embarrassingly long time ago.
