The best answer is mountain casual. It's going to be an outdoor wedding and with elvish and mermaid accents, so feel free to be glittery and glowy (or let your kids dress up). And while it should be very comfortable, there is always a chance of precipitation and it could be chilly at night. Much of the area is on grass; so heels are not really a good idea. Go barefoot and enjoy!
We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! Please let us know if you really want a babysitters to make that a reality. We're hoping to have a face painter and bubble monster and a film or three showing outside the cabin. There is a river; so please consider how to make sure your groms don't get hurt.
It would be ideal to carpool if you can. It's about 30 minutes from town. But lots of parking next to the site. If you are camping on the premises- it's just a stumble away. For those who may want to tent crash for just that night- you are welcome too (or takeover someone else's tent.) We will start earlier to so people won't have to drive too late. Check with us if you need a ride–we may be able to connect people. There is no cell service at the site, so best to arrange your transportation ahead of time as it may be hard to reach Uber!
Get a hold of us as soon as possible if you want to camp/stay on the site. We will be posting a few rules soon. But it is not a designated campground, just open space on the property next to the river. There will be porta potties and access to shelter and picnic tables and running water. Some access to shower may be onsite (a sweet van set up). Also a sweet warm pool is available for non-guests at the Pine River Lodge- just up the road. Bring your own towel! It's open from 10-9 and there are changing facilities and showers. See notes and the URL to where the camping is under TRAVEL.
You may bring your dog if you keep it on a leash at all times and clean up after it, like some of the CA state parks. So it's not the best situation for dogs if they need to run. Obviously it can run off the property and up at the lake. We want to minimize the number of dogs because of past problems (and wild animals) , but don't want that to keep you from coming. Let us know if this will make a difference in whether you can come or not! While we love doggies, the ceremony and reception won't be a good place for them to be, so please plan accordingly.
If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes; if not, we would prefer if it was just you.
An umbrella! Other rain gear (just in case) Tent/sleeping gear in case you are staying elsewhere but want to crash on the property the night of the wedding. Jacket and insect repellant, Fishing gear, And... Swimsuits, intertubes and pfds, your Go Pro
If you're going to fish outside of the private stretch of river on the wedding property, then you will need a license. If just in Pine Song, then there will be no one from the family checking or caring whether you have a license. However, while a Fish and Game Warden has not come on the property to check for licenses in decades, you should be aware of the fact that it is always possible that a warden could come by the property and do a license check. If so, anyone fishing without a license could be fined. Licenses can be purchased at a number of local places in Durango or even online. For information on where to purchase a license, please check here: https://www.cpwshop.com/licensing.page. Please remember that it is catch and release only and fly, no lures. All the fishing guides will not be coming to the river that week, so you have it to yourself. Do let us know if you plan to fish, so we can space you out and make sure we know who's out there.
