The closest airport to Carmel-by-the-Sea. (~20 minute drive). Flight options are fairly limited (no direct flights from east coast) and sometimes can be more expensive than the other options. Car rentals available and recommended.

Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC)

Closest airport with nonstop flights from New York (JetBlue from JFK). 1 hour and 15 minute drive to Carmel-By-The-Sea. NOTE: Drive includes a mountain pass road that can be challenging for those who are not used to driving mountain passes. If you get easily car sick or are a nervous driver we recommend flying to Monterey. Car rentals available and recommended.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

Major international airport about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Carmel-By-The-Sea without traffic. Easy and convenient flight options but also includes driving mountain pass roads and is much further than Monterey Regional Airport. Car rentals available and recommended.
